Bernie Williams and Jorge Posada of the New York Yankees performed this feat on April 23, 2000. This was the first time in Major League history this is accomplished. Williams hit a homer from each side of the plate again on May 17 giving him 2 for the 2000 season.

The single season mark for hitting home runs from each side of the plate in the American League was 3 set by Tony Clark in 1998, and in the National League it was 4 set by Ken Caminiti in 1996.

The first National League team to have 4 players hit 30 or more home runs was the 1977 Los Angeles; Steve Garvey,33, Reggie Smith,32, Ron Cey,30, and Dusty Baker,30.

The Reds went on to set a NL consecutive record of 208 games without being shut out. Mets' Al Leiter shut out the Reds 5-0 in the wild-card playoff game that ended the 1999 season. The Reds then went on to score at least one run in a game until Jon Lieber of the Cubs shut then down 3-0 on May 24, 2001. The 1931-33 New York Yankees logged 308 games without being shut out.

Erstad of the Anaheim Angels capped of the season with a .355 batting average and a league leading 240 base hits. He hit 25 home runs and drove in exactly 100 runs. The previous record for RBIs by a leadoff hitter was Bostons' Nomar Garciaparra who drove home 98 in 1997.

Esteban Yan is the first American League pitcher to accomplish this feat since the designated hitter was installed in 1973. He hit the homer off New York Mets' Bobby Jones on June 4th at Shea Stadium during an interleague game where the pitchers must bat for themselves when in a National League park. Chris Richard of the St Louis Cardinals also hit his first pitch ever seen over-the-fence on July 17, 2000.

On April 21, 2000, Mo Vaughn and Tim Salmon hit back-to-back home runs for the Anaheim Angels in the 4th inning, then repeated the feat in the 9th. Troy Glaus also homers in those same two innings, as the Angels beat the Tampa Bay Devil Rays 9-6. The three players with two home runs in the game ties another ML record.

Arizona Diamondbacks' Randy Johnson struck out 14 Florida Marlins as the Diamondbacks beat the Marlins 4-3. Johnson's 3,000th strikeout victim was Mike Lowell. He is the 12th hurler to reach this milestone. Johnson first strikeout of the game gave him 300 for the 3rd consecutive year.

Scott Sheldon of the Texas Rangers became the 3rd player in history to execute this feat against the Chicago White Sox on September 6, 2000. Shane Halter of the Detroit Tigers was the 4th member on October 1, 2000. He performed his feat on the last day of the regular season against the Minnesota Twins. Cesar Tovar was the last, in 1968, to play all nine spots.

On May 12, 1999, Finley of the Anaheim Angels struckout 4 New York Yankees in the 3rd inning at Yankees Stadium. He finished the game with the win and 11 K's. Finley then struckout 4 Tigers in the 1st inning on August 15, 1999, as he collected the win and 12 Ks at Tiger Stadium.

His 3rd performance came against the Texas Rangers on April 16, 2000. While with the Cleveland Indians he fanned 4 Rangers in the 3rd inning, compiling 13 Ks and pitching a complete game for the win at Jacobs Field.
