1. Which of these players was the first to win 40 games in a season?

Answer: Jack Chesbro

Chesbro went an amazing 41-12 in 1904 with the Yankees. His second highest season total was 28-6 with Pittsburgh two years earlier. In 1908, Ed Walsh of the Chicago White Sox went 40-15. Chesbro and Walsh were the only pitchers in the century to reach the 40-game milestone.
2. Which of these players stole 100 bases in a season during the 1960s?

Answer: Maury Wills

Wills is the only player listed who played in the 1960s. His speed came true with the Los Angeles Dodgers when he stole 104 in 1962. Wills was able to reach the milestone by playing 165 games that season, via a 3 game playoff with the Giants. The Giants won the tie-breaking series amongst great controversary.

The Dodgers claim that the Giants watered down the infield heavily to slow Wills down.
3. Pete Rose managed in the Majors.

Answer: True

He managed the Cincinnati Reds for 6 seasons from 1984 to 89. He led the Reds to 4 second-place finishes, and had a career win-loss record of 412-373.
4. Willie "_____ " Stargell played for the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Answer: Pops

"Pops" was loved by all Pittsburgh fans. This Pirate great played 21 seasons for the Pittsburgh club from 1962 to 1982. Compiling 475 career home runs, Stargell stole only 17 bases. He appeared in two World Series against Baltimore in 1971 and 1979 where the Pirates won both. In the 1979 Series, Wilbur smacked 3 home runs.
5. Which of these teams did not exist in the Major Leagues in 1968?

Answer: Kansas City Royals

The Royals club did not come into existence until 1969. They finished the season with a 63-93 record. The team was led by batter Lou Piniella and pitcher Moe Drabowsky. The Houston club started in 1962 as the Colt 45's, then changed their name to the Astros in 1965. The Angels began in 1961, and the Mets the following year.
