Answer: Nick and John Winter

Anthony "Nick" Winter won the triple jump in 1924 and John Winter won the high jump in 1948. Neil Brooks (swimmer) won gold in the 4 x 100m relay at Moscow 1980 and Travis Brooks won gold in the men's Field Hockey in 2004 (Yes, 24 years apart but not in jumping).

Scott and Thomas Anderson were both sailors and Scott won gold in the Star Class and Thomas won gold in the Dragon Class both during the 1972 Olympics. David Green was an equestrian and won gold in the team eventing in 1992, and Nick Green was part of the "Oarsome Foursome" that won rowing gold in 1992 and 1996.

Fleur Mellor (athletics) was part of the relay quartet that won gold at Melbourne 1956 in world record time.
Majorie won gold in the 100m and 200m in 1952. Raylene Boyle won 3 silver medals in three Olympics, and Pam Kilborn was a world hurdles record holder, and won silver and bronze at two Olympics.

Answer: Ian O'Brien

Ian O'Brien won gold in the 200m breaststroke in 1964. He retired after the Mexico Olympics due to financial reasons and no sponsorship. However, years later he became a very successful businessman.

Beverly Whitfield was born in Shellhabour (NSW) and was 18 years old when she won gold at Munich 1972 in the 200m breaststroke. Jon Sieben won gold in the 200m butterfly in 1984, and David Theile won gold in the 100m backstroke in 1956 and 1960. Although he won two 2 gold medals, David is definitely one of the unsung Aussie heroes.

James William "Bill" Roycroft competed in 5 Olympics (1960-1976) in the Team 3 Day Eventing. He also won bronze in 1968 and 1976. He got out of his sick bed in Rome 1960 (he was injured in a steeplechase event on the previous day) to compete in the Team Show Jumping event and Australia won the team gold medal.

Answer: Lionel Cox

Lionel Cox partnered Russell Mockridge (reputed to be Australia's greatest cyclist) in the tandem in 1952. Lionel also won silver in the sprint. Sadly, Russell Mockridge was killed during a cycling race in the mid 1950s at the age of 30. Tony Marchant won gold in 1956 in the Tandem with Ian Browne. Sid Patterson never won a medal at his only Olympics in 1948, but he did win the World Professional Pursuit Title in 1952 and 1953.

Sir William Herbert "Bill" Northam was a sailor and won gold in 1964 in the 5.5 metre class.

John Konrads won his gold medal in the 1500m freestyle at Rome 1960. His sister, Ilsa Konrads also broke multiple world swimming records.
David Kowalski was born in Singapore and won gold at Sydney 2000 in the 4x200m freestyle relay.
Michael Grenda (cyclist) claimed gold in the men's 4000 team pursuit in 1984. John Cuneo was a sailor who won gold in the Dragon Class in 1972.

Michelle won the 800m Freestyle at the 1980 Moscow Olympics. She was the first Australian woman to win individual Olympic medals in two distinct specialist strokes. At these games, she also won bronze in the 200m butterfly. All other female swimming gold medalists in Moscow were won by "Soviet bloc" countries.
Lyn McClements won gold in the 100m butterfly in 1968, and Shane Gould won 3 gold in 1972.

Andrew "Boy" Charlton won gold in the 1500m freestyle in Paris in 1924. He also won silver in this same event 4 years later in Amsterdam. Frank Beaurepaire won bronze in this event in 1920 and 1924. Bob Windle won this event in 1964, and John Marshall won silver in 1948. Australia had won this event on 8 occassions.

Answer: Steven Bradbury

Stephen Bradbury is a 4-time Olympian, who was Australia's first Winter Olympic gold medalist. He won gold in the 1000m event in 2002 after all his opponents were involved in a last corner pile-up. He also was a member of Australia's first-ever medal winners at the Winter Olympics, in 1994 in the 5000m relay.
