Answer: Hockey & Cricket

The Tassie Tigers play in the Australian Hockey League (AHL). In 2003, Matthew Wells, the tiger's fullback, became only the second player in history to win multiple AHL Player of the League awards (adding to his 2001 win). He was also names 2002 Kookaburras International Player of the Year - with the Kookaburras being the Australian men's hockey team.

The Tasmanian Tigers represent Tasmania in the Australian domestic men's cricket competitions - the Sheffield Shield (cricket, four-day matches), Ford Ranger Cup (one-day competition) and the Twenty20 competition.

Answer: Comets

The ACT Comets (also known as the Canberra Comets) struggled to find enough local support and talent to be able to have a viable team in the Australian first-class and list-A cricket competitions. They initially played three seasons (starting in 1997/98) in the Mercantile Mutual Cup (one-day competition) before moving to the lower-level Cricket Australia Cup.

The Canberra raiders were admitted into the NSWRL competition in 1982. The jersey was designed by a local resident incorporating colours representing both the ACT and the first Rugby League team in the area. In their second season, 1983 saw their first away win, and their first Grand Final appearance came along in 1987.

Their first Grand Final win was in 1989 making the Raiders the first team to win a premiership after finishing lower than 3rd place on the ladder (they finished 4th) and the first to take the NSWRL premiership (the Winfield Cup) out of Sydney.

The Canberra Capitals play basketball in the Women's National Basketball League (WNBL). They were founded in 1984 and won grand finals in 2000, 2002, 2003, 2006 and 2007. Lauren Jackson, one of the all-time best basketball players, played for the Canberra Capitals from 1999 to 2006. The other three answer options do not exist. The mascot for the Canberra Capitals is Ace the Dog.

The NT Pearls (NT Pearls) are the women's hockey team and the Northern Territory Stingers (jellyfish mascot) are the men's hockey team. Both teams placed 8th in the 2008 season.

Answer: Knights

The Canberra Knights were founded in 1981 and have played in all incarnations of the Australia Ice Hockey League since. They were a founding member of the New South Wales Super League in 1982, and won their first premiership in 1998 in the East Coast Super League.

In 2000, the competition was re-formed as the Australia Ice Hockey League. The Bears are based in New South Wales, the Ice in Melbourne and the Blue tongues on the Gold Coast, in Queensland.

The Brumbies play in the Super 14 competition consisting of provincial teams from Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. They were formed in 1996 to add a third Australian team to the Super 12 competition (the first two being NSW Waratahs and Qieensland Reds). Based in Canberra, their home ground is Canberra Stadium and the team colours are navy blue, white and gold.

The Wrest Point Tassie Van Demons are based in the capital of Tasmania, Hobart. They play their home games at the Tasmanian Hockey Centre.
In 2001, the AHL competition moved their games from mid-year to be played between February and April using a format that allows for players playing on the international stage and also an altered competition in Olympic years.
