Jelena and her father Damir are a remarkable duo. When they were young, they moved from Yugoslavia to Australia. After a bad draw at the Australian Open, they accused the organisation of doing that on purpose. They moved back to Yugoslavia and Jelena chose to play for that country.

Guillermo Canas was born in Argentina, but has showed that doesn't only play well on clay. In 2001 he reached the final of the ATP Tournament of Rosmalen, The Netherlands. This tournament is played on grass. He lost to Lleyton Hewitt.

Jiri Novak's best results were in doubles matches. Together with David Rikl, he won a lot of titles. But 2001 was a great year in singles as well. He defeated Juan Carlos Ferrero on clay in Gstaad, Switzerland. He also won another big tournament played on clay in Munich. He reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open in 2002.

Thailand is slowly growing as a tennis country. The leading female player is Tamarine Tanasugarn. They also have a good male player: Paradorn Srichaphan, who once defeated Yevgeny Kafelnikov. And another male player is coming up: Danai Udomchoke.

Angeles Montolio was born in Spain's tennis capital: Barcelona. Born in 1975, she turned pro in 1990. She won the titles of Estoril in 2001 and Bol (Croatia) in 2000.
