Pat Rafter was born in 1972 in Queensland, Australia. A very popular player, he won two singles Grand Slams, the US Open 1997 and 1998 where he beat Brit Greg Rusedski and fellow Aussie Mark Philippoussis respectively. He was runner-up at Wimbledon in 2000 and 2001 losing to American Pete Sampras and Croat Goran Ivanesivic.

He donated half the prize money from his 1997 and 1998 US Open wins to a children's hospital in Brisbane, Australia.

Bjorn Borg was born in Sweden in 1956. He won six French Open titles (1974-75, 1978-81) and five Wimbledon titles (1976-80). Despite being in four US Open finals, he never actually won. Borg is the only player in the open era to have won both Wimbledon and the French Open in the same year more than once, and he did so in three consecutive years. One of the most famous Wimbledon finals took place in 1980 where he and American John McEnroe dueled it out over five long sets.

The final score was: 1-6, 7-5, 6-3, 6-7, 8-6, and the fourth set tiebreak comprised an amazing 34 points, 18-16.

Chris Evert was born December 21, 1954 in Florida. She won 18 Grand Slam singles titles, including a record seven at the French Open. Chris never lost in the first round of a Grand Slam singles tournament, with her earliest exits being in the third round. Her third husband was professional golfer Greg Norman. Following a first marriage with British tennis player John Lloyd, she went on to have three sons with second husband, Olympic downhill skier Andy Mill.

Monica Seles was born December 2, 1973 in Novi Sad, Yugoslavia (now Serbia) to Hungarian parents and became a naturalized United States citizen in 1994. She was the first player to have won all four Grand Slam singles tournaments (Wimbledon, the US Open, the French Open, and the Australian Open) at least four times each. In 1988, Graf became the first female player to achieve the "Golden Slam" by winning all four Grand Slam singles titles and the Olympic gold medal in the same year. Graf retired in 1999 and later lived in Nevada with her husband and their son and daughter.

Stefan Edberg was born 19th January 1966 in Västervik, Sweden. He won all four Grand Slam junior titles in 1983 to become the first-ever player to achieve the "Junior Grand Slam".

In 1988, Edberg reached the first of three consecutive finals at Wimbledon. In all three finals, he played Boris Becker in what became one of Wimbledon's greatest rivalries. Edberg won their first encounter in a four-set match spread over two days because of rain delays.

A year later, Becker won in straight sets. The closest of their matches came in the 1990 final, when Edberg won in five sets after being down a break in the fifth set.
