Tom Kelly took over for Ray Miller late in the '86 season. It turned out to be a good choice since the Twins won the AL West, the LCS and of course, the World Series in '87.
2. Who managed the Cardinals in the '87 Series, and what was his other nickname?

Answer: Whitey Herzog / The White Rat

Dorrel Norman Elvert Herzog was also, occasionally called the "White Rat". Whitey was quoted by George Will in Men at Work as saying, "Baseball has been good to me since I quit trying to play it". With three division championships at Kansas City, three league championships, and a World Series win at St. Louis in 1982, he was right.

The old Washington Senators moved to Minnesota in 1961 when the league expanded to ten teams. The Twins won their second World Series in '91 against the Atlanta Braves.
