The club's colours are red and white and is commonly called l'Albert. Its stadium can be found at the Avenue Charles Tondreau and can seat a merely 15,000 people.

Before the final, they were thought chanceless against Czechoslovakia. However, a Czech player was sent off after 15 minutes, and his team mates also left the pitch to show their disagreement. Since the Czechs refused to play any further, Belgium were proclaimed the winners.

Tomislav Ivic has coached Anderlecht and Standard, but never Brugge. The Austrian Happel led Brugge to their greatest success in the second half of the 70s, while Broos was manager for six years, from 1994 till 2000.
