Answer: Seattle Pilots

1969 saw the first season of the franchise, and it didn't work out too well. With a record of 64-98, the franchise moved to Milwaukee of the American League. It was the first season that Milwaukee had a team, since the NL Braves left for Atlanta in 1966. The Brewers were relocated to the National League in the 1998 season.
2. The Twins were seen in Minnesota in 1961. Which team were they the season prior?

The Washington Senators existed twice in the Major Leagues. One Senators team moved to Texas to become the Rangers, and the other were the new Twins of Minnesota in 1961.

The St. Louis Browns existed from 1902-1953. In 1951, it was the Browns that made a mockery of baseball by sending in the 3ft 7in Eddie Gaedel as a pinch-hitter. The Browns never won a World Series, but did make one appearance in 1944, losing to cross-town rival St. Louis Cardinals four games to two.
4. Before becoming the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1958, the franchise was named the Brooklyn Dodgers. What was their franchise name prior to being named the Dodgers?

Answer: Brooklyn Robins

The other names listed were the names of the franchise in the 1800s. The Robins carried the name from 1914-1931, then the Brooklyn Dodgers from 1932-1957. The Robins won two National League pennants in 1916 and 1920, under the reins of manager Wilbert Robinson.

The Yankee franchise began as the Baltimore Orioles in 1901 and 1902. The team then became the New York Highlanders from 1903-1912. Then the dynasty began in 1913. It would not be until 1920 when New York saw the great 25 year old Babe Ruth in the pinstripes.

The Oakland Athletic franchise began in 1901 with the introduction of the new American League, as the Philadelphia Athletics. Under the management of Connie Mack for an unbelievable 50 seasons, the team moved to Kansas City in 1955. In the franchise's last season in Kansas City, in 1967, Major League baseball saw Reggie Jackson as a rookie. The team moved to Oakland the following season in 1968. The Kansas City Athletics never finished better than sixth place.

The Senators began their franchise in 1901 with the new American League. They remained the Senators until 1960. The following season the team moved and became the Minnesota Twins. In 1961, ironically, a new Washington Senators team emerged and played until 1971.

The Pittsburgh franchise began in 1882 with the Alleghenys of the American Association. The franchise joined the National League in 1887. After becoming the Pirates in 1891, the team won two National League titles in 1901 and 1903, and appeared in the first World Series in 1903, but lost to the Boston Pilgrims, five games to three.

The Colt .45s joined the National League as an expansion team in 1962. They played with the bats of Norm Larker, Bob Aspromonte, and Joey Amalfitano. The .45s had no pitching staff so to speak of, with Turk Farrell going 10-20. The franchise changed their name to the Astros in 1965.
