Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What was the name of the drive-in theatre they were closing?

Answer: Twi-Lite Drive-In

Norm loved the food. They used real butter on their popcorn. It was also the place where he proposed to Vera.
2. Who played Gus O'Malley?

Answer: Pat Hingle

Hingle's real name was Martin Patterson Hingle. He was born July 19, 1924 and died at age 84 on January 3, 2009.
3. Who used to come into Cheers years ago and make googly eyes at his wife and recite poetry to her?

Answer: Norm

Gus told everyone that Norm did this back when Gus owned the bar. Norm was trying to quiet him down not wanting the others to see he once had a romantic side.
4. Who was named Trunk Boy?

Answer: Frasier

Frasier didn't know what it was but it sounded fun. Trunk Boy is the guy who rides to the drive-in in the trunk so he doesn't have to pay saving them $6.
5. When Rebecca told Gus she'd been very busy, what did he say?

Answer: Well maybe you've been flappin' your lips.

Rebecca did very little work at the bar despite being the manager. Gus was a nice man but didn't mess around when it came to a good work ethic.
6. What happened to the top of Cliff's mom's convertible?

Answer: It got stuck half-way up.

The people behind them started beeping. Then a man came over, and tore the fabric off the top so they (the people behind Cliff's car) could see the show.
7. Norm said an actress from "Godzilla" left part way through the "Godzilla" series. What did Woody ask in response?

Answer: I don't understand. Why would an actress leave right in the middle of a successful series?

I believe this was a jab at Shelley Long who left after season 5 of "Cheers". "Cheers" was a very successful series that ran for 11 years. It won 28 Emmy Awards and was nominated for 118. It aired 275 episodes over its 11 year run.
8. What did Gus say the letter C stood for in "Cheers"?

Answer: Courtesy

The H stood for honesty. The two Es stood for energy and more energy. The R stood for "Right, Gus" and the S stood for "Say when I give an order".
9. What happened when Sam tried to imitate Gus?

Answer: They ignored him.

They knew Sam too well to think he was a threat of any kind. Also, Sam didn't have the power in his voice that Gus had.
10. What did Frasier suggest the men were mourning?

Answer: The loss of their youth

Norm, Cliff, and Woody all agreed with him. Cliff went on and on, so they asked him to go get more refreshments. While he was gone Frasier got behind the wheel to drive home without Cliff.
