It was such a disturbing scene - Jack Bauer napping on the couch, holding a rag doll. Luckily, his daughter Kim soon returned to pick up her daughter Teri, so that Bauer could once again set out to save the world. Actually, he had agreed to return home with Kim to Los Angeles, but something came up.

2. At the beginning of Day 8 of "24", what event brought Jack Bauer back to CTU?

Answer: A wounded informant knocked on his door.

As Jack Bauer was packing to leave for Los Angeles with Kim, Victor Aruz arrived and told him of an assassination plot against President Hassan of Kamistan. Two others involved in the plot had been killed, and Aruz had been wounded. He wanted protection and immunity before sharing what he knew, so Bauer called CTU and arranged for Aruz to be brought in.

3. On Day 8 of "24", when Jack Bauer and Victor Aruz were being pursued while trying to reach the helicopter on the roof, Jack managed to take out both assailants at once. What weapon did he use?

The assailants were following Jack Bauer and Victor Aruz up the staircase when Bauer implanted an axe into the chest of the first man. He fell back into the second man, and the impact caused the second man to fall over the railing, landing several floors below.

Although Jack Bauer was previously based out of CTU in Los Angeles, Day 8 started in New York. We were introduced to a new crew of CTU personnel who operated out of a nice, shiny underground facility. Bauer tried to bring in an informant to CTU, but the helicopter they were to use was blown up, killing the informant and two CTU agents.

5. There was only one familiar face at CTU at the beginning of Day 8 of "24". Who was back working at CTU?

The ever faithful, ever scowling Chloe O'Brian had to return to work because her husband Morris lost his job. It was a rough start for her, though, as she wasn't quite up on the latest technology, and CTU Director Hastings didn't initially appreciate her skills.

Cole Ortiz was in the helicopter that landed to pick up Victor Aruz. He told Jack Bauer what an honor it was to meet him and tried to get him to return to CTU for a debriefing. Bauer declined, saying he had delivered Aruz as agreed. As he was walking away, Bauer spotted a missile launched from a neighboring building, and he pushed Ortiz to safety before the helicopter exploded.

8. At the beginning of Day 8 of "24", why was reporter Meredith Reed a suspect in an assassination plot against President Hassan?

Victor Aruz warned Jack Bauer that there was someone close to President Hassan involved in the assassination plot, and after a quick CTU investigation, it was discovered that Meredith Reed had illegally accessed the U.N. server, thus making her the prime suspect. Chloe O'Brian, however, was suspicious of the ease with which they made the discovery and decided to pursue a different angle by investigating who had access to Reed's computer.

9. At the beginning of Day 8 of "24", Jack Bauer decided to pursue a different suspect in the assassination plot against President Hassan. What information about CTU director Hastings did Bauer threaten to tell President Taylor in order to get Hastings to allow him to work the case?

CTU Director Hastings didn't follow standard procedures when sending a CTU unit via helicopter to pick up Victor Aruz. According to Cole Ortiz, he should have sent another team to sweep surrounding buildings to ensure there was no threat to the helicopter. Hastings declined to do so, saying that one team would be enough because they had drone coverage.

A missile launched from a neighboring building blew up the helicopter, resulting in the deaths of two CTU agents and the informant. Jack Bauer overheard Hastings asking Ortiz to keep the details out of his official report to prevent an internal investigation, and Bauer used this information to force Hastings to allow him to work the case.

10. The assassin, Davros, made his move in the second hour of Day 8 on "24". How did he plan to get close to President Hassan?

Answer: He was on the police detail.

We were not told how Davros managed to become New York City policeman Mike Farmer so quickly; it is just one of those things that happens in T.V. land. He also managed to get on the United Nations security detail, which would get him near to Hassan.
