During the speech, Roy made mention as to how the killer got his famous nickname. Also, Roy explained how the Triple Killer tended to impersonate certain people before killing his victims.

Richard and Kate heard from Kevin that Paul McCardle's car had been spotted near the victim's home (her name was identified as Linda Russo) just before she was murdered. Kate and Richard interviewed him to find out how much he knew about the case. Paul claimed that he was at a bowling alley during the time when she was murdered.

Early on in the episode, Kevin entered Roy's office to let him know that someone was there to speak with him by the name of Cal Townsend. Roy allowed Cal to enter his office so they could chat. It was revealed that Roy was involved in investigating the murder of Cal's daughter, Sara, who fell to the Triple Killer a couple years back.

Originally, the team thought that someone named Marcus Gates was the Triple Killer when he had similarities to the infamous murderer. However, as they realized that Marcus had an alibi on the night of Linda Russo's murder, he could not have been the Triple Killer. Through further digging, they realized it was Jerry Tyson who murdered Linda Russo and thus was the Triple Killer.

Kate briefed Roy on her latest moves regarding the case with Linda's murder and mentioned she got a warrant to search Marcus's apartment since she believed he was tied to the second murder (another murder took place in the episode). She stated that Kevin executed that warrant by going through Marcus Gates' apartment. Roy had a bad feeling they would not locate anything crucial at Marcus's dwelling.
