Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Matt and Sarah's graduation from medical school will be in New York. The majority of the Camden clan is in California. Both Simon's wedding and Matt's graduation are scheduled for Saturday, May 13th. Which one does Kevin initially want to go to?

Answer: Matt's graduation

Kevin mainly wants to go because he wants to go to New York, and it would be the perfect excuse. He said that Lucy could come with him, but Lucy said that she was in the wedding herself! Not only that, but Kevin's in the wedding! Kevin even suggested that the guys go to New York and the girls stick around for the wedding, but that wasn't going to happen. Kevin's most effective maneuver was getting Simon and Rose to consider eloping- he was willing to be a witness, once Simon suggested it, but he didn't even care about seeing them.

He just wanted to go to Matt's graduation.
2. Who calls Rose and asks her to change the date of the wedding?

Answer: Sarah

Sarah appears again in this episode as Matt's wife, but Matt is nowhere to be found. Kevin calls Simon, not Rose. Annie doesn't call anyone, but Umberto calls her.
3. What do Kevin and Eric (although Eric "can't have anything to do with it") decide to suggest to Rose and Simon?

Answer: Elope

Kevin calls Simon up and suggests it, and Simon and Rose both seem keen on the idea- at first. They need 24 hours to think it over.
4. Where does Annie call in an effort to help Simon and Rose out in changing the date of their wedding?

Answer: The restaurant

Annie doesn't talk to Simon or Rose about it, but she desperately wants to postpone their wedding, in the hope, as Lucy points out, of having the two not get married in the end.
5. Lucy says she thinks she's a better Christian than her mother.

Answer: False

Annie makes a retort about Lucy thinking she's a better Christian than her, and Lucy says that she never said that. Before she leaves the house through the kitchen/back door, she says, "And by the way, I don't think I'm a better Christian than you". Later on, Annie tells Lucy that Lucy IS a better Christian- but Lucy never says that she thinks such a thing.
6. Where does Ruthie want to go to study poetry and medieval literature?

Answer: Scotland

Ruthie and Peter try to get their parents to allow them to go to Scotland over the summer to study poetry. It costs $2500, but that includes everything. Kevin gives Ruthie the money, but Lucy thinks it's a bad idea. Ruthie's going off to a foreign country to be alone with a boy.

However, Kevin has a good reason to let Ruthie go- perhaps she'll gain perspective, won't get married too young, and wants to see the world. Peter's parents won't let him go, it seems, and Annie knows nothing about Ruthie and Scotland by the end of the episode.
7. In the previous episode, Rose had invited her ex-fiancé, Umberto, over to have dinner with her and Simon. Simon had been leaving the apartment to talk to a woman. At the end of the episode, Rose called the last call dialed, and found out about the woman. In this episode, who do we find out the woman is?

Answer: Someone from work that Simon likes to talk to

Umberto spoke with Simon about it, Simon confirmed that she means nothing to him, and he has nothing to hide.
8. Annie walks in on Eric talking to Kevin on the phone. Eric continues speaking without realizing Annie's there, and says, "But if you and Lucy are going to be witnesses...". Annie deduces that Eric and Kevin have been talking about Simon and Rose eloping. Finish this statement of Annie's: "If our son elopes..."

Answer: I may never speak to you again as long as we live!

Eric doesn't know how to respond, and the phone rings. Eric answers it- but Annie asks how he can answer the phone at a time like that. She tells Eric that they need to stop him!
9. Annie calls Simon's apartment, and Umberto picks up. After "meeting" over the phone, Annie says, "Listen, Umberto, I don't know you and you don't know me, but we have got to stop Simon and Rose from eloping!" Umberto replies, "I couldn't agree with you more. And after we stop them from eloping, let's stop them from getting married altogether." What is Annie's reply?

Answer: Yes!

"Yes!", Annie says. She's excited! And Umberto's plan does work. Umberto tricks Rose into thinking the entire Camden family is coming to their elopement, and Rose doesn't want that. Umberto points out that she shouldn't marry into a family where everyone hates her. However, instead of deciding not to marry Simon because of this, Rose takes a different approach...
10. Why does Lucy tell Kevin, "You really are a genius!"?

Answer: Lucy finds out that he told Simon and Rose to elope

Lucy said that he was a genius when he explained his reasons for thinking Scotland would be good for Ruthie, but when Eric and Annie came in and Annie informed Lucy of the elopement idea, she said, "You really are a genius!"
11. Umberto makes Rose rethink marrying Simon when he points out that Simon's family is about to become her family, and they don't like her. Umberto does lie, though. He says that the entire Camden family is on their way to see Rose and Simon elope! Rose calls Annie's cell phone and tells her not to bother coming, and that she and Simon aren't eloping. What does she do next?

Answer: Call their home phone to see if they were really on their way

Umberto asks Rose how she knew that Annie was at home. Rose tells him it's intuition.
12. Why aren't Paris and Vic allowing Peter to go to the foreign country to study Robert Burns' poetry?

Answer: Peter failed a class

Ruthie still, however, wants to go. Eric still hadn't mentioned it to Annie yet, though. Immediately after this is established, Eric takes away Ruthie's cell phone because of the outrageous phone bill. Also, it might be interesting to note that Robert Burns is widely regarded as the national poet of Scotland, and is the best known of the poets who have written in the Scots' language.

However, much of his writing is also in English and in a "light" Scots dialect which would have been accessible to a wider audience than simply Scottish people.
13. It turns out that the twins like taking the junk mail out to the recycling bin because they like cutting out pictures of the women! What kind of girls do they claim they like?

Answer: All of these

David likes girls that are a little fat. Sam likes girls with ponytails. David likes girls in dresses. Sam likes girls in blue jeans and girls with blond hair and black hair. David likes girls with red hair and girls that smile with their teeth. Eric walks in on them. He tells the twins that he thinks they need to talk, but they wonder what about. The mail? It's just junk mail...
14. Ruthie asks Lucy about the baby. Lucy says that her pregnancy's fine so far, and that everything's going great. She feels happy. Ruthie feels happy too. She hardly thought about Martin at all this week. Lucy likes having sisters, and misses sitting up in what is now Ruthie's room and talking. Who does Ruthie say she doesn't think they'll be getting back?

Answer: Mary

Jessica Biel hadn't been seen in the show since the second episode of season 8- and according to the show's storyline, Mary had filed for divorce and signed away custody of her son at the end of season nine. Now, in season 10, Mary is to be assumed to still be a flight attendant and probably in some contact with the family. Ruthie says that she doesn't think they'll be getting Mary back, but in a few weeks they'll have Rose! But that idea isn't all that pleasant for either Ruthie or Lucy.
15. Annie calls Eric on her cell phone, and tells him she has some good news and some bad news. "The good news is that I really, really like Rose. Love her even. Oh, she's not such an awful person after all." What's the bad news?

Answer: "I'm not so sure she's gonna end up with Simon."

Rose has changed the date of the wedding- it's now the day before it was originally planned- a Friday. Rose reveals that her parents weren't all that great at being parents, and that she, ever since her parents' divorce, acted like she was better than everyone so that it wouldn't matter if people didn't like her. She was afraid of people not liking her. But she now realizes that she's been a horrible person, and she wants to change. She tells Annie, and Annie knows that she herself has too been a horrible person. She asks Rose why the sudden change, and finds out that it was Umberto- he thinks she's likable! Then Annie calls Eric, and reports both her change of heart and her new suspicions.
