The movie apparently ran the entire day because every time they showed the TV this is what they were watching. "It's a Wonderful Life" stars Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed.

Sam told Rebecca that it was a holiday. When she said it isn't he said, "But it's a holiday eve." She scheduled herself to work that evening as well to show she wasn't pulling rank.

He then thought that his expensive gift got him a romantic dinner with Rebecca until Carla informs him that Rebecca invited everyone in the bar to her house.

"God bless us everyone" is a line from "A Christmas Carol" spoken at the very end by Tiny Tim. It was fitting that Woody spoke the line at the end of this episode since he was the most innocent of the gang at Cheers.
