Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Shortcomings"- Carrie falls for a new person in this episode. It isn't the writer she's dating, but his mother. What is her name?

Answer: Wallis

Valerie Harper played Wallis, the mother of the "too quick" Vaughn. Vaughn was slightly uptight in comparison to his very relaxed and hip family. Wallis and Carrie became fast friends right away, but had to end it sadly when Vaughn could not live up to Carrie's expectations in a boyfriend. Valerie Harper is best know as Rhoda Morgenstern on the hit "Rhoda" (1874-78) and as Valerie Hogan on "Valerie" for two seasons. "Valerie" was changed to "The Hogan Family" after Harper's character was killed off in an accident. Sandy Duncan came aboard to play Michael Hogan's sister for the remainder of the series' run.
2. "Was It Good For You?"- Which of these things does NOT happen in this episode?

Answer: Samantha has sex with two gay men

Samantha never consummates their escapade. The trio are in bed together, but the men could not go through with the actual sex. Carrie's alcoholic date becomes addicted to her, and when she ends their involvement he starts drinking again. He later makes amends to her when he's back in the program (AA).
3. "Twenty-something Girls Vs. Thirty-something Women"- Charlotte convinces the girls to join her in the Hamptons.

Answer: True

The episode starts off with an explanation of how this great Hamptons house became available for the end of the season. A couple rented the home and invited her two best female friends and his two best male friends to join them. The six were doing just fine until the wife catches her husband with one of her best girlfriends. Unpleasantness ensues and finally the wife offers her good friend Charlotte a chance to rent it for the final part of the summer season.
4. "Twenty-something Girls Vs. Thirty-something Women"- How did the girls get to the Hamptons?

Answer: Jitney

The Jitney is a bus to the Hamptons. Carrie narrates that it is like the bus to summer camp, only everyone ignores each other and talks on their cellphones.
5. "Twenty-something Girls Vs. Thirty-something Women"- Charlotte gets involved with a younger man on vacation. What was his name and age, and what age did Charlotte say she was?

Answer: Greg- age 26, Charlotte- age 27

Not only did Charlotte lie about her age to impress a younger man, but she started to act like a college girl again. She used fun words like awesome and drank herself silly. Greg ended up leaving Charlotte with a party favor and Samantha introduced him to her ex-assistant Nina G.
6. "Twenty-something Girls Vs. Thirty-something Women"- Who was it that became enamored with Carrie?

Answer: Laurel

Laurel was the 25 year old virgin that looked toward Carrie as a mentor. Rachel Minor, ex-wife of "Home Alone" star Macaulay Culkin, played Laurel Harris. Anson Mount played Greg, the guy with an "insect issue", in this episode. Anson went on to star along side Britney Spears in "Crossroads" in 2002.
7. "Ex And The City"- Samantha finally meets a man she cannot have sex with.

Answer: True

John Enos played Mr. Cocky, so nicknamed for his bold pick up of Samantha on the streets of Manhattan. Samantha was intrigued with him and his generous male attributes until she attempted to become intimate. After two attempts, she finally gave up and suggested that they just be friends. John Enos began portraying strip club owner Bobby Marsino in 2003 on the hit daytime drama "The Young and The Restless". Bobby turned out to be a major player in a storyline with long time character Nikki Newman.

He was the younger brother of the boy Nikki accidentally shot when she was five years old. John also had a small role in the movie "Phone Booth" along side Colin Ferrell.
8. "Ex And The City"- When Carrie meets Big for a lunch date he keeps praising the restaurant's _________.

Answer: Cobb salad

Carrie realized that Big was nervous too. He praised the cobb salad several times, and the duo proceeded to drink their nervousness away. After they are quite intoxicated, Big admits to Carrie that his relationship with Natasha is serious. It is so serious that they are engaged, and when she hears this Carrie promptly loses her cool.
A Cobb salad usually consists of more than one type of lettuce, watercress, chicken breast, French dressing, and avocado.
9. "Ex And The City"- What part of Charlotte's body was injured by her horse Taddy when she was a child?

Answer: collar bone

Charlotte is practically phobic about horse riding after the event and does not get back on a horse until this episode. But, a remembered love and perseverance guide her back to a joy of horses and she rides at a gallop through the park.
10. "Ex And The City"- What movie does Carrie quote to Mr. Big at the end of the episode when she says "Your girl is lovely Hubbell"?

Answer: The Way We Were

Robert Redford played Hubbell Gardener opposite Barbra Streisand's Katie Morosky in this 1973 movie. The girls raved about the movie and compared Hubbell to Mr. Big after Carrie heard about his engagement to Natasha. Samantha had never seen the movie, which shocked the other three, but at the end of their rendition of the theme song she exclaimed "I miss James!"
