"AMC" at the Soap Opera Digest Awards: Part 3 Quiz

Answer: David Canary (Adam/Stuart)

"AMC" received a number of opportunities to win an award at Soap Opera Digest's ceremony in 1992 and one victory came in the Outstanding Lead Actor field courtesy of David Canary (Adam/Stuart). Canary had a lot of story the previous year as Adam reeled after learning that troublemaker Hayley was his biological daughter.

Other nominees for Outstanding Lead Actor that year were Jordan Clarke of "Guiding Light", Don Hastings of "As the World Turns", Stephen Schnetzer of "Another World" and Charles Shaughnessy of "Days of our Lives".

Answer: Susan Lucci (Erica)

"All My Children" won a couple Soap Opera Digest Awards in 1993 with one incredible victory being in the Outstanding Lead Actress. Original star Susan Lucci won the award after the previous year's story involving both Erica's strained marriage to Adam and her dealing with Dimitri's near Enchantment takeover.

Other nominees for Outstanding Lead Actress that year were Elizabeth Hubbard of "As the World Turns", Susan Flannery of "The Bold and the Beautiful", Beverlee McKinsey of "Guiding Light", Maeve Kinkead of "Guiding Light", Kim Zimmer of "Santa Barbara" and Nancy Lee Grahn of "Santa Barbara".

Answer: Michael E. Knight (Tad)

In 1995, "All My Children" got a couple of Soap Opera Digest Awards with one being from the beloved Michael E. Knight (Tad). Knight's material from 1994 stemmed in Tad reuniting with Dixie and a nicely directed episode involving his out of body experience thanks to a violent tornado.

Other nominees for Outstanding Male Scene Stealer that year were Charles Keating of "Another World" and Justin Deas of "Guiding Light".

Answer: Mark Consuelos (Mateo)

At the 1996 Soap Opera Digest Awards, "AMC" scored an impressive four wins with the first victory that evening being Mark Consuelos (Mateo) in Outstanding Male Newcomer. Consuelos' first storyline on "AMC" revolved around Mateo convincing Hayley that Alec McIntyre was no good for her.

The other nominees in the category that year were Kevin Mambo of "Guiding Light" and George Palermo of "Loving".

Answer: Kelly Ripa (Hayley)

Ripa has won a number of Soap Opera Digest Awards for her performance as Hayley Vaughn on "All My Children" and the first win came in 1996 for Outstanding Younger Lead Actress. Ripa earned this win off the previous year's storyline centered on the Alec/Hayley/Arlene triangle and the beginnings of the Hayley/Mateo supercouple love story.

The other nominees for Outstanding Younger Lead Actress that year were Martha Byrne of "As The World Turns" and Lauralee Bell of "The Young and the Restless".

Answer: Robin Mattson (Janet)

Veteran actress Robin Mattson, who is in my opinion the best "AMC" recast in the show's history, got a Soap Opera Digest Award in 1996 for Outstanding Female Scene Stealer. The previous year's plotting with regards to Janet incorporated issues like parenting, love and crime.

The other nominees that year were Anna Stuart of "Another World" and Barbara Crampton of "The Bold and the Beautiful".

Answer: T.J. Warner (Kelsey)

After earning a nice four wins in 1996, the following year proved a little bit more difficult for "AMC" since they only earned two Soap Opera Digest Awards. However, one of their victors was T.J. Warner (Kelsey) from the Outstanding Female Newcomer category.

In the previous year, Kelsey battled Edmund and Maria for custody of Sam. The other two nominees that year for Outstanding Female Newcomer were Sandra P. Grant of "One Life to Live" and Amy Van Horne of "The City".

Answer: John Callahan (Edmund)

"AMC" won another sizable four Soap Opera Digest Awards at the 1998 ceremony with its highest perk being John Callahan's (Edmund) win for Outstanding Lead Actor. The previous year saw Edmund in numerous storylines: finding out Maria cheated on him with Dimitri, the drama surrounding Maddie's paternity and a plane crash from the summer of 1997.

The other nominees in the category that year were Tom Eplin of "Another World" and Kin Shriner of "Port Charles".

Answer: Michael E. Knight (Tad)

The popular Michael E. Knight (Tad) got the Soap Opera Digest Award in Outstanding Supporting Actor at the 1998 ceremony. This resulted from the previous year's storytelling with Tad's up and down relationship with Gloria as well as his aiding Edmund in obtaining custody of Maddie.

His competition that year was John McCook of "The Bold and the Beautiful" and Robert Newman of "Guiding Light".

Answer: Vincent Irizarry (David)

As they say, every soap needs a good villain to keep drama brewing and "AMC" created a great one in David Hayward, portrayed by Emmy winner Vincent Irizarry. Irizarry nabbed the Outstanding Villain honor in 1999 after the previous year's storytelling saw David admit to nearly killing Adam as well as his blackmailing Gillian.

The other nominees were Sam Behrens of "Sunset Beach" and Hunt Block of "Guiding Light".
