Although she doesn't like the fact that she has become Ceres' medium - a fact which has put her life in danger from the men of her own family - Aya embarks on a mission to help Ceres return to heaven. Toya falls in love with her and helps her, even sacrificing his immortality to return Ceres' robe and protect both Aya and their unborn child.

They become separated, though, as Tamahome is forced to return to his own world after Miaka makes her final wish.

To protect them both, Julia goes into hiding and only meets Spike again years later.

Their reunion is cut short, though, as Julia is shot by one of Vicious' henchmen.

In spite of this, though, Parn believes that his father is a great man and after his village is attacked by a goblin tribe, Parn sets off to clear his father's name. Parn also saves Deedlit when she is kidnapped by the dark wizard Wagnard and in the end, they embark on another adventure together.

Ryuuki is the Emperor of Saiunkoku. He first meets Shuurei when she becomes the Imperial Consort, a role she agrees to take on to help Ryuuki become a good emperor. Later, Shuurei takes the national exams and becomes a government official, after which Ryuuki appoints her as the Governor of Sa province.

As she does her best for her country, Ryuuki waits, telling her that he intends to marry only her and that he will wait for her to fulfill her dreams, no matter how long it took. At the end of the second season, though, though, he says he cannot wait for her forever and gives her a time limit, to which she agrees.

One day, however, Hagi has a bad fall, wounding himself terribly while picking flowers for Saya. Alarmed, Saya gives him some of her blood and unknowingly changes him into her chevalier.

As her chevalier, Hagi stays by Saya's side and fights with her, obeying all her wishes except one - the wish for him to end Saya's life once her twin sister, Diva, is dead - because he loves her and wants her to live happily.
