Christine Elise McCarthy portrayed Brandon Walsh's girlfriend Emily Valentine for a total of twelve episodes from 1991-1994. Most of the episodes with Emily were in the second season, but she reappeared briefly in seasons four and five. She also helped write three season seven episodes, though she did not appear on screen for them.

Dylan actually asked out Emily first, when he saw her arrive at school on a motorcycle on her first day in the second season episode "Wildfire". Brandon saw her a few minutes later and also asked her out - she accepted both of their dates. She went out with Dylan first, which made Brenda incredibly jealous.

In the end, Brenda and Dylan got back together, and Emily and Brandon hit it off.

Emily mentioned this when she met Brandon and Andrea and the staff of the school newspaper. In a later episode, she donated an antique typewriter that her father had to The Blaze, as an attempt to get back on Brandon's good side.

In the episode "U4EA", Emily took the gang to an underground rave club. She asked Brandon if he wanted to do euphoria with her, but he declined. Emily bought the drugs anyways and slipped it in Brandon's drink. He seemed to enjoy it at the time, but the next morning he was livid and broke up with Emily.

She didn't take it well, and in the next episode "My Desperate Valentine", she started phoning him constantly and not speaking, as well as sending threatening letters to the school newspaper. She was even going to burn down the float everyone had made for a parade, with herself sitting on it, but Dylan and Brenda talked her out it. Emily was sent to a mental health facility.

The baseball jersey was one of his favourite items of clothing, his Minnesota Twins jersey. In a previous episode, Emily had taken it from his room and wore it until he took it away. In the episode "A Walsh Family Christmas", Brandon went to visit Emily at the hospital and brought her the jersey as a gift.

Brandon went on a road trip in "Radar Love" to relax after writing his midterms. After he saw a woman whom he mistook for Emily, he decided he wanted to see her. He drove to Marin County, where she was supposed to be living with her parents, but when he got there, he found out that the family had moved to Greece. Disappointed, Brandon went on to San Francisco where he randomly ran into Emily on a cable car - she hadn't gone with her parents to Greece. Brandon stayed with her for a few days, and they both confessed that they were in love with each other.

Though she almost changed her mind when finding out that Brandon loved her, Emily was planning on leaving for France in a few days. She finally told Brandon of her plans, and he made her go.

She was moving to France to study marine biology at the Jacques Cousteau Institute. She had developed a love for marine life and especially enjoyed watching the sea lions in the San Francisco Bay, an activity that she shared with Brandon while he was in town.

Emily had to return to California for a few days and phoned Brandon to let him know she was coming. She originally said she only had a one-hour layover in LA so Brandon agreed to see her. When she arrived, Emily confessed that she was actually in town for a few days, and wanted to spend them with him.

He told her that he was seeing Kelly, but that didn't stop him from going out with Emily rather than accompanying to Kelly to the house party where she was eventually injured in a fire. Brandon felt very guilty for not being there for her, and he did not pursue anything further with Emily.

Jason Priestly and Christine Elise dated for years, before she was even on the show. They were supposedly engaged to be married from 1992-1997. Their relationship is primarily why Christine continued to work on "90210" occasionally, even though her character would not appear in any more episodes.

The couple eventually grew apart, as one might guess based on their lengthy engagement period with no wedding.
