Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Wherever there is danger he'll be there".

Answer: Dangermouse

One of THE best animated series ever. Fantastic voiceovers from the brilliant David Jason as Dangermouse(who also voiced Toad of Toad Hall and Count Duckula) and the sorely missed Terry Scott as Penfold.
2. "Sometimes I think you're a dream, when we work out what you have to do, you can always turn the goods out"

Answer: Bertha

The song was sung by Guy Fletcher, and voices on the programme - such as those of Mr Sprot and Panjit were provided by the excellent (and again much missed) Roy Kinnear.
3. "Here are the people who will share the sights, the sounds, the air".

Answer: Pigeon Street

I absolutely loved the "Pigeon Street" theme tune and am gayly singing away here at my 'puter. The voices were provided by George Layton and John Telfer. This TV show was very P.C. with a female long distance lorry driver (Clara) and a male cook (Hugo). Superb!
4. "You'll be surprised how good it feels, to zoom around."

Answer: Chorlton and the Wheelies

Never a favourite of mine, but I know others who rave about it. Brian Trueman did a fantastic job of all the voices though - I wonder why Fenella the wicked witch was Welsh? Hmmmm.
5. "Driving down the busy streets, greeting people that he meets - someone could be in a jam".

Answer: Fireman Sam

Although I love Sam, he can't replace Postman Pat in my affections. I just love Dilys though and John Alderton's voices and narrations are excellent.
6. "You can knock it, you can rock it, you can go to Timbuktu."

Answer: Family Ness

There were many Nessies including Clever-Ness, Eager-Ness and Her High-Ness. The humans were Mactoot (who played the bagpipes)and Elspeth and Angus - the children who befriended the Nessies.
7. "No two nights are the same and life is one long glorious game."

Answer: Jamie and the Magic Torch

No - not Wordsworth the poet, but Wordsworth the Old English Sheepdog! "Jamie and the Magic Torch" was another classic from the Cosgrove Hall stable. Jamie would be tucked up in bed, but after his mum had turned off the lights a helter skelter would appear and he and Wordsworth would sort out the troubles of Cuckooland. The theme tune was just the most ace thing about the show though.
8. "Oh come with me to the rolling sea, while the weather's calm and still."

Answer: Portland Bill

"Portland Bill" was one of my favourite lunchtime shows with characters with names like Dogger, Cromarty and Ross who all lived and worked on a lighthouse. Of course all the names were taken from the shipping forecast.
9. "Here is a box, a musical box, wound up and ready to play".

Answer: Camberwick Green

"Camberwick Green" was the first series from Gordon Murray. At the beginning of each programme a box would appear and would open to reveal which character the show would be about. We had hours of peurile fun in our house with the name Windy Miller!
10. "Get on board! Get on board!"

Answer: Here Come the Double Deckers

This programme was SO cool. 7 kids all hanging out together in a double decker bus and every week they'd have a new adventure. Peter Firth and Brindsley Forde from "Aswad" were cast members.
