1. Who were the group of students sharing a squalid house near their university?

Answer: The Young Ones

The students nerd Rick, hippy Neil, punk Vivian and cool Mike were the characters in "The Young Ones". Twelve episodes were made between 1982-1984. In the final episode "Summer Holiday" they were killed when their double-decker bus exploded falling over a cliff. Rik Mayall, Lise Mayer and Ben Elton wrote the scripts for the shows.
2. What was the name of the department store in "Are You Being Served"?

Answer: Grace Brothers

"Are You Being Served" ran from 1972-1985 with sixty nine episodes. Mr Humphries (John Inman) was the sales assistant in the men's department. Mrs Slocombe (Molly Sugden) always had outrageous coloured hair and Mr Rumbold was the fussing manager.
3. What was the spin off from "Man About the House" about a couple that ran a Bistro?

Answer: Robin's Nest

Robin Tripp (Richard O'Sullivan) was a newly qualified chef living with his girlfriend Vicky (Tessa Wyatt). They open a Bistro in Fulham, London and employed a one-armed Irishman, called Albert, to do the washing up. It was the first British sitcom to depict a "common-law marriage" and the writers had to get permission from the Independent Broadcasting Authority.
4. Which character was Frank Spencer's long suffering wife in "Some Mothers do 'ave 'em"?

Answer: Betty

Michael Crawford played Frank Spencer in this hilarious sitcom from 1973-1978. He played a bungling accident prone but well-intentioned husband to Betty. In the second series a heavily pregnant Betty went into labour and Frank caused chaos around the birth of Jessica. Michael Crawford did all the stunts himself including hanging over the edge of a cliff from the bumper of a car to roller-skating down a steep hill underneath a lorry.
5. In "Birds of a Feather" where were the husbands of Sharon and Tracey?

Answer: In prison for armed robbery

Sharon lived in a tower block with her waiter husband Chris and Tracey lived with her rich husband Darryl in Chigwell, Essex. The husbands were convicted of armed robbery and sent to prison. Initially they were financially secure but after a few years their money started running out. The series ran from 1989-1998 with one hundred and two episodes.
6. Which female comedienne played the main character in "The Vicar of Dibley"?

Answer: Dawn French

The old vicar, Reverend Pottle, died in the middle of a service. Boadicea Geraldine Granger, played by Dawn French, replaced him. She was a chocoholic who loved to tell jokes. Alice Tinker was the dotty verger who believed in fairies, the Easter Bunny and even thought the Teletubbies were real. Eighteen episodes were made.
7. Which sitcom in the 1980s featured the characters of Penny Warrender and Vince Pinner?

Answer: Just Good Friends

Vince (Paul Nicholas) and Penny (Jan Francis) were lovers divided by class. They planned to marry but Vince had second thoughts and ran away. Five years later they met again and eventually married. Broadcast from 1983-1986.
8. In "Goodnight Sweetheart" what era does Gary Sparrow find himself in to lead a double life?

Answer: 1940s

Gary Sparrow (Nicholas Lyndhurst) wandered down an alley, Ducketts Passage, and found himself in the past, he went into a pub and met Phoebe. When he realised he could travel between 1990 and 1940 he soon developed a double life and committed bigamy. Fifty eight episodes were made.
9. What was Timothy Lumsden's employment in "Sorry"?

Answer: Librarian

Timothy (Ronnie Corbett) was a forty one year old still living at home with his parents. He was a smart and bright man but felt awkward with women. This was owed to his overpowering mother determined to keep him under her thumb. The series ran from 1981-1988.
10. Which actor played Ronnie Barker's cellmate in "Porridge"?

Answer: Richard Beckinsale

"Porridge" was set in Slade prison where Norman Stanley (Ronnie Barker) shared a cell with Lennie Godber (Richard Beckinsale). Fletcher is a habitual criminal and Godber is a first-time criminal. This series ran from 1973-1977.
