Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the significance of the 100 in the episode title?

Answer: It marks this episode as the 100th in the series

"Death Pool 100" is the 100th episode of "CSI Miami". The episode begins at the scene of a pool party, which is attended by some of Miami's rich and beautiful elite. However it ends in tragedy, with two people dead. Despite the 100 in the title, the only other reference made to the series' special milestone, is when Calleigh remarks to Horatio, "I guess somebody will always think it's easy to make a hundred," prompting the latter to retort, "But we know different, don't we?"
2. When armed robbers interrupted the pool party, what did they demand from its guests?

Answer: Their jewelry

When armed robbers interrupted the party, viewers heard them demand "Give me the jewelry. Right now!" Moreover one man walked over to the pool and demanded that high-profile socialite, Dakota Hudson, gave him her necklace.

Later on in the episode, as Horatio examined the scene, Detective Frank Tripp informed him that "The party was held by one Mr Ice", whose real name was Bernard Hegland. He also added that he was known as "Jeweler to the A - List", which only seemed to expand the list of suspects.
3. Both pool party victims died as a result of gunshot wounds.

Answer: True

Both of the individuals who died at the pool party died as a result of gunshot wounds. The first, Ethan Parker, was still wearing his jewelry, leading Ryan to comment that "he didn't want to give up his jewelry, so he gave up his life". However the second victim, Dakota Hudson, had been seen giving her necklace to one of the robbers, and yet she had been shot in the chest.

This led Eric to exclaim that "they had no reason for killing her", prompting Calleigh to add, "or a reason we didn't know about".
4. Which CSI ordered another member of the team to stop touching a piece of evidence, showing that they did not trust them entirely?

Answer: Ryan Wolfe

As Natalia collected evidence from the crime scene, Ryan stormed over to her, yelling "Put it down." Startled, Natalia responded with "Hey, look. I think I found something big," but Ryan continued to order her to put the evidence down. Ignoring Natalia, Ryan responded arrogantly, with "You'll contaminate our only DNA link. Please put it down." Moments later, an embarrassed Eric was left speechless, by Natalia's revelation that she had "photo'd it and measured it", and had learned from her mistakes. Left with nothing more to say, a shamefaced Eric could only say "Oh...right...great...bye", before turning on his heel and walking away.
5. One of the suspects of the pool party shooting had an unusual gambling habit. Which of the following did he like to gamble on?

Answer: When famous people were going to die

As this episode progressed, it became clear that the shooting of Dakota Hudson had nothing to do with the armed robbery. In fact, there was a third gunman, who hid in the pool with Dakota, and shot her underwater. The bullet casing found at the bottom of the pool then led Horatio and Tripp to the home of Kevin Iverson, who revealed that his gun had been stolen some months earlier.

Although his story was correct, a death pool list of various celebrities drew Horatio's eye. It seemed that Iverson picked the names of the celebrities he thought most likely to die, in a similar way another gambler might pick "a horse race".

Moreover his standing as a murder suspect increased tenfold once it was revealed that he had made $100,000 from the death of Dakota Hudson.
6. Which character had a $100 note seized by a member of the Treasury?

Answer: Calleigh Duquesne

Having confiscated a substantial amount of money from Mr Shin, Horatio called on the Treasury, in order to confirm whether or not the notes were authentic. Calleigh examined them, and believed them to be the real thing, as the paper was "three-quarters cotton, one quarter linen".

She also pointed out the "watermark and security strips," prompting the expert from the Treasury to exclaim, "right on all accounts. They're even made by an intaglio press. But they're counterfeit." The expert went on to inform a surprised Calleigh that the notes they were dealing with were supernotes.

In order to illustrate his point, the man asked if her if she had a real note to compare it with. Pulling out a $100 note, Calleigh handed it to the man, who, after examining it, informed her that her note was "a supernote too".

He then confiscated it.
7. None of Horatio's team had ever placed a bet on the death pool.

Answer: False

After having her money confiscated by a member of the Treasury, Calleigh walked over to Ryan, with a stern look on her face. She then revealed that the $100 note that he repaid her for the iPod she had picked up for his niece, was actually a counterfeit. Calleigh then asked him if he had ever played the death pool, prompting Ryan to reveal that he had indeed done so, but only once. Ryan went on to explain that on one occasion he "gave some money to" a friend, who then placed a bet for him.

Moreover his bet had paid off.
8. What part of Dakota's body held a clue that eventually led to Calleigh cracking the case?

Answer: Her earlobe

Near the end of this episode, Calleigh noticed that Dakota's earlobe was inflamed, leading her to suspect that the earrings she had been wearing were inexpensive. As Calleigh explained to Tripp, she herself had once had the "same problem back in college", after wearing cheap jewelry.

Moreover when one of Mr Ice's diamonds was tested, they were revealed to be glass. Summing it up to Eric, Calleigh said, "Well, looky there. It's no wonder nobody's hocking Mr Ice's wares. They're fake."
9. What location did Horatio believe Hover Gambling was using to manufacture bogus currency?

Answer: A ship

Horatio had a strong suspicion that Hover Gambling was using their ship to manufacture bogus currency. After getting onboard and observing a waiter with ink stains all over his hands, Horatio became even more certain of this. After contacting Agent Cole of the FBI, Horatio revealed his findings, adding that the man with the ink stains of his hands "could get you a warrant, if you choose". Surprisingly however, Agent Cole revealed that the FBI knew "all about the supernotes", but they didn't want to arrest Choi for the money.

Instead they hoped to get Choi to lead them to the "top government officials" of North Korea. When Horatio added that "phoney currency could collapse the economy of Miami", Agent Cole laughed and said "We're not going to let it get that bad", prompting Horatio to respond with, "Neither will I".
10. "You know, your knowledge of the fashion world, it's...it's impressive. Do you have something you want to tell me?" Who was Calleigh speaking to when she said this?

Answer: Detective Frank Tripp

Calleigh said this to Tripp near the end of this episode, after he recognised the designer of a piece of fabric caught on the side of a gun. After glancing at the piece through a magnifying glass, Tripp said, "Huh. Agostina", prompting Calleigh to come out with the above quotation.
