1. Which planet did the Mysterons have their base on?

Answer: Mars

The Mysterons, sentient computers with a collective consciousness had a colony on Mars for 3,500 years. They were what remained of the original Mysteron race, an extraterrestrial life form from a galaxy far, far away.

They were attacked by the crew of the Earth vessel Zero-X commanded by Captain Black, when a harmless sensor device was mistaken for a weapon. The Mysterons then used their power of reversing matter to rebuild the Martian complex and vowed to take revenge by attacking targets on Earth.
2. Which Earth organisation fighting the Mysterons, does Captain Scarlet work for?

Answer: SPECTRUM

Spectrum is the organisation fighting to save the Earth from the Mysterons. It was set up by the world government based in Unity City, Bermuda, headed by President Nikita Bandranaik.

It was decided to recruit agents for Spectrum from the other world government agency's to cut down the training time needed. These agency's were W. A. A. F. (World Army/Air Force, W. A. S. P. (World Aquanaut Security Patrol), W. S. P. (World Space Patrol) and U. S. S. (Universal Secret Service).
3. What is the name of the base that Captain Scarlet is stationed on?

Answer: Cloudbase

Captain Scarlet is stationed on Cloudbase, the headquarters of Spectrum. He is their top field agent.

Cloudbase is an aircraft carrier/barracks 630 feet long and 330 feet wide, floating 40,000 feet above the surface of the Earth. Stationed aboard are 593 crew that consists of the commander-in-chief, field agents, female aircraft pilots, medical staff and administrative and maintenance staff.

Answer: Colonel White

Colonel White is commander-in-chief of Spectrum and it's headquarters is Cloudbase on which Colonel White is stationed.

Colonel White was born Charles Gray in London, England. He studied at a College in Canterbury, Kent, England, until the age of 17 and then attended a Military College. He gained first class honours degrees in computer control, navigation and technology. He then enlisted in the British Navy, and served on submarines and destroyers.

Colonel White is voiced by actor Donald Gray and is also modelled on his facial characteristics
5. The various Captains drive an SPV, a pursuit vehicle. What is unusual about driving one of these vehicles?

Answer: The driver is seated facing backwards in the vehicle

When driving an SPV (Spectrum Pursuit Vehicle) the driver is seated facing backwards in aircraft type bucket-seats. Seated facing backwards for safety reasons, they steer through monitors above the steering bars and control the SPV by reverse differential, cylindrical hydro-pneumatic steering.

There is a control panel on the left side steering bar which allows the raising/lowering of the rear caterpillar tracks. The SPV has 20 wheels and carries a single ground-to-air rocket launcher, it is 25 feet long and weighs eight tons. Top speed is 200mph and it can travel 12,850 miles before refuelling and is amphibious.
6. Assisting in the fight against the Mysterons is a team of female pilots. What is their collective name?

Answer: Angels

There are five female pilots and their group name is Angels.

Destiny Angel, real name Juliette Pontoin from Paris, France. Her character was based on actress Ursula Andress, her voice was provided by Elizabeth Morgan.

Harmony Angel, real name Chan Kwan from Tokyo, Japan. Her character was based on actress Tsai Chinn, her voice was provided by Elizabeth Morgan and Lian-Shin.

Melody Angel, real name Magnolia Jones from Atlanta, Georgia, U. S. A. Her character was based on actress and singer Eartha Kitt. Her voice was provided by Sylvia Anderson.

Rhapsody Angel, real name Dianne Simms from London, England. Her character was based on model Jean Shrimpton. Her voice was provided by Elizabeth Morgan.

Symphony Angel, real name Karen Wainwright from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, U.S.A. Her character may have been based on actress Wanda Ventham or the person that provided the voice, actress Janna Hill.

Lieutenant Green is Colonel White's aide, he is a computer expert and Communications Officer for Cloudbase.

Lieutenant Green was born Seymour Griffiths in Trinidad, Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. Although Lieutenant Green does not appear in the opening credits of the show, he is one of only three characters along with Captain Scarlet and Captain Blue that appear in every episode.

Lieutenant Green's voice was provided by actor and singer Cy Grant.

Captain Black, real name Conrad Turner from Manchester, England, was the mission commander aboard the Zero-X spacecraft. It was sent to investigate the surface of Mars after unidentified radio signals originating on the planet were detected on Earth.

The source of the radio signals was discovered to be an extraterrestrial base. It was attacked and destroyed when the crew of Zero-X mistook a harmless sensor device for a weapon. Captain Black was killed but reanimated by the Mysterons and then became their agent on Earth.

Captain Black's voice was provided by actor Jeremy Wilkin when he was human and by actor Donald Gray after he was reanimated by the Mysterons.
9. How did Captain Scarlet get the power to recover from death but not be controlled by the Mysterons like Captain Black?

Answer: He was killed and resurrected by the Mysterons. He was then shot by Captain Blue and fell 800 feet. On returning to life again, he was free from Mysteron control.

The original Captain Scarlet is killed in a car crash engineered by the Mysterons and replaced with a Mysteron duplicate. The duplicate Captain Scarlet was then shot by Spectrum agent Captain Blue and fell 800 feet from the top of a car park. The Captain Scarlet duplicate came back to life but without the Mysteron control and became Spectrum's indestructible top agent in the fight against the Mysterons.
10. What is Captain Scarlet's real name?

Answer: Paul Metcalfe

Spectrum agent Captain Scarlet's real name is Paul Metcalfe. He was born in Winchester, Hampshire, England. He graduated from Winchester University in with degrees in History, Technology and Mathematics. He then went to West Point Military Academy in New York State, U.S.A.

The face and voice of Captain Scarlet is based on a young Cary Grant and is voiced by British actor Francis Matthews. Captain Scarlet has an even closer resemblance to the ex-Liverpool F. C. player Alan Hansen.

Patrick Donaghue is Captain Magenta voiced by Gary Files, Bradley Holden is Captain Grey voiced by Paul Maxwell and Adam Svenson is Captain Blue voiced by Edward Bishop.
