Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The show loved hip-hop and rap groups, always giving them a spot to end/close out the show, but what group sang the opening theme?

Answer: Heavy D and The Boyz

There were two different versions of the song done by Heavy D and the Boyz. Of course, one version was remixed.
2. The show employed an in-house dance group. What were they were known as?

Answer: The Fly Girls

The most famous Fly Girl was Jennifer Lopez. The original Fly Girls were Cari French, Carrie Ann Inaba, Diedre Lang, Lisa Marie Todd and Michelle Whitney-Morrison. The choreographer, Rosie Perez, was also famous - more famous for her roles as Mookie's girlfriend Tina in Spike Lee's "Do the Right Thing" and Gloria in "White Men Can't Jump".
3. The Wayans family were the key members of this ensemble cast. Which Wayan was NOT a main cast member?

Answer: Dwayne

Brothers Keenen and Damon Wayans created, wrote and acted as various characters. Kim, Shawn and Marlon had regular roles. Dwayne was an extra, filling in on several occasions. He also served as a production assistant.
4. Damon Wayans created some of the funniest and most memorable characters. Which one of these characters was NOT a Damon creation?

Answer: Bozo the Clown

Damon Wayans is also a published author; he wrote "Red Hats" in 2010 as a tribute to his mother and grandmother (who are both members of the organization).
5. Before Jamie Foxx went on to become an Oscar winner for "Ray", he was a drag performer. What was his drag persona from "In Living Color"?

Answer: Wanda

Wanda's tag line was "I was gonna rock your world" and was always used when the man she was pursuing dissed her and ran away. The audience was always sympathetic and audibly sighed "Awwwww" on several occasions.
6. Another talented comic/actor from the show was Jim Carrey. One of his most memorable characters was Fire Marshall Bill, who initially showed up in a school to warn kids on the dangers of hazardous fires. Where did Fire Marshall Bill NOT show up?

Answer: In a church

Jim Carrey was also Grandpa Jack McGee in the "Dysfunctional Home Show", he impersonated Vanilla Ice and did "White, White Baby", and who could forget Vera de Milo (the steroid abusing bodybuilder)?
7. The women also held their own during the show. T'Keyah Crystal Keymah created a women's empowerment show called what?

Answer: Go On Girl

Crystal played self-help guru/feminist Shawanda Harvey and her tag phrase was, "You are strong, you are beautiful, you are perfect"!
8. No one was safe from the satire of "In Living Color". "King: The Early Years" parodied who?

Answer: Don King

This skit started out leading people to believe that the storyline was about Martin Luther King being an early peacemaker on the playground, but it was actually about Don King being an early boxing promoter, complete with early boxing prodigies Leon Spinks, Gerry Cooney and Robin Givens!
9. Hip-Hop and rap music was played heavily on the show. Which musical act performed most?

Answer: Heavy D and the Boyz

Not only did they perform the theme song, but they appeared at least three more times live on the show.
10. Keenen Wayans was the comic mastermind behind "In Living Color" and created many memorable characters. What was the name of the man "who always had a party"?

Answer: Frenchie

Not only was Keenen an outstanding comic character, but he was a screenwriter and producer as well, lending his talents to such programs as "Hollywood Shuffle", "Eddie Murphy's Raw", "The Five Heartbeats" and, one of my all-time favorites, "A Low Down Dirty Shame".
