Hideki always calls his neighbor by his surname, Shinbo, although his first name is Hiromu. We learn this in both "Chapter 1: Chi Awakens", when Shinbo introduces himself to Hideki and again in "Chapter 15: Chi Doesn't Do Anything", when Shinbo asks Ms. Shimizu to call him by his first name. All other times, he is always referred to as Shinbo.

What is interesting about Chi and all the other Persocoms in this Anime is that they all have no irises in their eyes. In Japanese culture, the iris of the eye symbolizes one's soul. Those without an iris are either undead, or have no soul. Since Persocoms are machines, they have no souls.

Sumomo is the Mini-Persocom owned by Shinbo. Her name was Plum in the "Chobits" Manga due to her purple hair. For reasons unknown, her name was changed to Sumomo in the Anime adaptation of the Manga.

When Chi was reawakened and was named Chi by Hideki, all she could say was "Chi", which is why Hideki named her Chi. However, when she was first built with her original name, Elda, she was able to speak with a full vocabulary. She lost her vocabulary when Chitose formatted her memory.

While online, Yoshiyuki goes by the name Dragonfly. M is the name that belongs to Minoru.

She only speaks her full name a few times in the Anime. The rest of the time, she is called Ms. Hibiya by either Hideki or Shinbo.

The Tirol's owner and manager, Mr. Ueda, says in the flashback of "Chapter 22: Chi Wears and Takes Off" that he has never been very good with technology. For this reason, he only had one Persocom for his bakery. After she broke, he never hired another until Chi came along.

Mr. Ueda's wife was the same Persocom he bought to work in the Tirol bakery. After working with her for some time, he fell in love with her, despite the fact that she was a Persocom. Soon, she was hit by a truck and was broken beyond repair. Coincidentally, Yumi is also the name of the second girl he falls in love with during the Anime.

What is most prominent about a Persocom's uniqueness, is that they are able to create actual emotions as opposed to a normal Persocom's emulated emotions, allowing them to fall in love.

However, in "Chapter 6: Chi Weakens", we learn that Chi requires more electric energy to recharge her battery than a normal Persocom. This is evident when Shinbo states that the electric gauge on Chitose's wall is going off the scale while Chi is recharging.

Also, in "Chapter 13: Chi Goes to the Ocean!", we learn that normal Persocoms can withstand small amounts of water, but they cannot be submerged completely underwater without sustaining heavy damage. In this episode, Chi falls off a boat into the ocean, yet comes out perfectly fine as if nothing happened.

Although Shinbo is a guy, his online character resembles his school teacher, Ms. Takako Shimizu. This is because Shinbo harbors a secret love for her that is not revealed until "Chapter 15: Chi Doesn't Do Anything".

When Chi is either in danger of being harmed, or if she feels violated, she activates a special defense program commonly called Trance Mode where she is able to destroy computer programs and levitate objects by telepathy. When Chi activates Trance Mode, she is often called Dark Chi. Freya-Chi is another name, since her attitude in Trance Mode is much like her sister, Freya's.

She uses Trance Mode a second time in "Chapter 20: Chi Wants" when she is kidnaped by Dragonfly. Having lost his sister at a young age, Minoru used his family's wealth to build a custom Persocom to resemble his elder sister, whom he loved very much. Having lived with Yuzuki for many years, he learned that a Persocom can never replace a human being.

Both Sumomo and Kotoko are Mini Persocoms, however, Sumomo is a standard model and Kotoko is a custom model built by Dragonfly. Custom models usually have more human like emotion emulation abilities. This is evident with Minoru's custom Persocom, Yuzuki, who acts almost human.
