True. He played a policeman in an episode of the soap, which featured a train crash. James Beck died in 1973, at the age of 44.
2. What was said to be the profession of Captain Mainwaring's father?

Answer: Tailor

Captain Mainwaring was regularly heard to boast that his father kept the best tailor's shop in Eastbourne. However, Jones remembers that his father actually kept a small shop in a side street with a pair of old trousers hanging outside! In the episode "My brother and I", Barry Mainwaring tells Frazer on the train that his father wasn't a master tailor, but a common draper.

Frazer's shop is next door to Corporal Jones' butcher's in the High Street of Walmington-on-Sea.

Remember 'Things That Go Bump In The Night'? The van breaks down and the Home Guards have to spend the night in a mysterious house, complete with howling hounds. This excellent episode from Series 6 was the last to feature Walker.

Episode 13, 'The Armoured Might of Lance Corporal Jones', was the first to appear in full colour. Also this is the first time that the platoon use Jones' van as their transport.
9. What was the name of the barrage balloon that featured in 'The Day the Balloon Went Up'?

Answer: Amy

The balloon was named 'Amy', and caused much distress to Captain Mainwaring and the platoon as they tried to catch it and stop it from hitting power lines.
10. What is Arthur Wilson's position at the bank?

Answer: Chief Clerk

Wilson is second in charge to Captain Mainwaring both at the bank and in the platoon.
