Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the name of the former "tech-guy" from The Torch who attempts to destroy all of Smallville?

Answer: Gabriel

Gabriel, apparently a boy who doesn't like meteor freaks at all, has decided in this episode to end their pain by setting a nuclear missile on the town. Chloe doesn't even manage to stop the missile, but, after it is shot into the air (and goes through the atmosphere into outer space), Clark manages to stop it from killing everyone.
2. Approximately what time was it when Clark realized that he and Lana had overslept and that Lana needed to get out of his house as quickly as possible?

Answer: 6:30

Clark expected his parents not to be up for another 15 minutes (at 6:45), but they were already awake, and caught Clark trying to sneak Lana out of the house. There was a brief discussion between Clark and his parents about his having sex with Lana. (Clark defended himself with the fact that he was 18 and had been in love with Lana since he was "like, 7" so it's not like he was rushing into anything.)
3. Does anyone (besides Gabriel, the person who shot him) see Clark get shot?

Answer: Yes

Clark is with Chloe when they trick Gabriel. Gabriel is led to believe that Chloe is in trouble, what with her car in a ditch, and can't get out of town. When Gabriel arrives, Clark comes out from whatever he was behind, and asks Gabriel which silo the missile is hidden (probably the reason for the episode's title) in. Clark also tries to tell Gabriel that killing everyone is not the answer. Gabriel responds by saying that "it's the only answer,", and shoots Clark, with Chloe hysterically screaming "Clark!" in the background.
4. Clark is taken into the hospital, and Lana finds him there. She begins what could be her last words ever to Clark with what phrase?

Answer: I don't even know if you can hear me, but...

Lana just wanted Clark to know that she's known ever since the first moment she saw him that no one could make her happier than him, and goes on to say that the reason she pulled away from him so many times was that she knew that Clark would always try to save the world, and then something "like this" would inevitably happen. Clark then turns to Lana and opens his eyes, proving that he could hear her, and then his heart stops.

It is an extremely touching scene.
5. How do Clark's parents get their first hint that Clark is dead?

Answer: Lana's extreme and hysterical grief

Lana is uncontrollably sobbing, and is having trouble staying in a standing position. She is leaning against the wall, and is walking towards the waiting room. Martha and Jonathan promptly stand up with worried looks on their faces, obviously knowing what the dreadful information that they would shortly receive would most likely be.
6. Meanwhile, however, Lex has been quite busy! He has noticed a new symbol on the bottom of the spaceship that landed for Lana to see in "Commencement" and "Arrival". The symbol has apparently just "appeared". Who had been drawing the symbol obsessively for weeks?

Answer: Lionel

Lex goes up to Lionel and shakes him. "What does it mean?!" Lex shouts at his father, frustrated with the silent man who seems to know something that could be of use to him. A second later, Lionel mumbles "You'll never open it." He follows this statement with, "Only 'he' can open it."
7. When Clark dies, Jor-El immediately possesses the vessel of Lionel, and kidnaps his dead son (Kal-El, a.k.a. Clark). Where does Jor-El/Lionel take Clark?

Answer: Fortress of Solitude

The Fortress of Solitude is the icy recreation (located in the Yukon) of Krypton, which has been created by Jor-El so that Clark can get to know the terrain of his world. Jor-El tells Clark that he took Clark's dead body from the hospital, went through the portal in the cave, and arrived in the Fortress of Solitude to bring Kal-El (Clark) back to life. Clark's mortal self is now dead, according to Jor-El.

Unfortunately, Clark doesn't have a choice about his resurrection, but it comes at a price...
8. Clark's life is forced back into him, but there is a serious consequence. What does Jor-El tell Clark must happen in exchange?

Answer: Someone close to Clark must die

The last thing Clark ever wanted was to be responsible for the death of someone he loves. He tells Jor-El that he'd rather die, but that's not an option. Clark should have known that there would be consequences when he didn't return to Jor-El like he promised (in "Arrival"). Clark doesn't tell his parents that someone that he loves must die- he straight-out lies and confirms that there was nothing asked in return for Clark's life. Clark also doesn't tell Chloe, he just says that he thinks he's made a terrible mistake...
9. When Lana first sees Clark after he rose from the dead and successfully stopped the missile without anything to show for it other than some dirt on his face and tattered clothes, what does she do?

Answer: Runs over to him and jumps into his arms

Lana is overjoyed to see Clark alive, and the unspoken scene where Clark and Lana exchange the meaningful glance and Lana realizes that Clark isn't really dead is perfect. When Lex and Lana have a conversation a scene or two later, Lex says "I heard about Clark's resurrection." Lex tries to convince Lana that there is no way that a "normal" person could rise from the dead, but Lana fights in Clark's defense.

She says that the only way Clark is unusual is his ability to see the good in people who don't deserve it.
10. Clark and Chloe have a very special conversation at the end of the episode. They cover everything including their missile problem of the day, Clark's miraculous rising from the dead, Lana and Clark's relationship, and even Clark's mistake of disobeying Jor-El. What was something Chloe wondered about Clark's special abilities/rising from the dead?

Answer: If he was healing from his gunshot wound

Clark lifted his shirt (to expose his bare chest AGAIN), and took off the bandage, to show an unscathed body. Chloe is amazed, and Clark just hopes that Lana never asks to see the scar. During their conversation, Chloe admits that she liked being the only person who knew Clark's secret, but it was unfair to Lana to be in a relationship with her and not tell her the truth. Clark replies by expressing his fear that Lana could be upset, on many different levels, by what he would tell her, but Chloe tells Clark that that is a choice for Lana to make.
