Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What was the name of the little girl flump in "The Flumps"?

Answer: Posey

Perkin, Posey and Pootle were the Flump children, then of course we had Mother and Father Flump and lastly, Grandfather Flump who was famous for giving his flumpet a good blow in many episodes. My most vivid memory of "The Flumps" is the episode where Perkin is very grumpy and has a black cloud following him. Simple but oh so good.
2. "The Amazing Adventures of Morph" was always a source of chuckles and much of the humour was pretty adult. What was the name of Morph's best mate (the off white/grey one)?

Answer: Chas

I first got into Morph when he appeared with artistic genius (well to kids anyway) Tony Hart on "Take Hart". Other characters in "The Amazing Adventures...." were Grandmorph and Delilah.
3. What was the name of the purple dinosaur on "Multi-Coloured Swap Shop"?

Answer: Posh Paws

The predecessor to Barney and much harder. Posh Paws would never have been caught singing "I love you, you love me", mostly because he was an inanimate object, but hey, he was still cool.
4. The long distance lorry driver in "Pigeon Street" is called Doreen.

Answer: False

Clara is the lorry driver. Doreen was the ballroom dancer married to Reg the park keeper, and Clara was married to Hugo the cook (oh what diverse jobs they all had). What exactly did pigeons have to do with it?
5. Complete the following female "Blue Peter" presenter's name: Lesley _____.

Answer: Judd

Probably the best female presenter in my opinion, closely followed by Sarah Greene (of course). She formed a great threesome of presenters with John Noakes and Peter Purves. Better than Val Singleton who always seemed a bit butch and stern to me. I wanted her hair!
6. What type of pudding did "The Clangers" like to eat?

Answer: Blue string

How I wish it had been Green Bogey Pudding! I never was and am still not a great fan of "The Clangers", but I know it's a bit of a cult thing so here it is in the quiz. I never liked the fact that I couldn't undersand a word they were saying and that they were pink.
7. "Mr Benn" lived in Festive Road. But which number?

Answer: 52

Another one I never quite got frankly. I'm sure I liked it when I was 5, but since then - well I think it's boring. I also believe that Mr Benn was a drug addict, had a dressing up fetish and fancied the bloke in the shop - fez and all. Maybe I'm just a bit sick though, eh?
8. Everyone remembers Zammo from "Grange Hill", but what was his surname?

Answer: McGuire

Although we all remember him, sometimes it's best to forget as Zammo's decline into drugs spurred the release of the awful "Just Say No". Well meant, but tuneless to say the least.
9. Which character is famous for following up a joke with "Boom, Boom"?

Answer: Basil Brush

"The Basil Brush Show" was top viewing for me on early Saturday evenings. I tuned it at the time of Mr Roy and a story about "Dirty Gerty From Number Thirty". Basil was a comic genius in the form of a fox - he's been re-born but he's not and never will be the same. I miss him - and that laugh!
10. Prince Amir of Kinjan is better known as who?

Answer: What-a-mess

"What-a-mess" (Prince whathisname was his kennel name) was an adorable Afgan Hound puppy created by Frank Muir - primarily in books, later on TV. When it came to the screen it was just as good and was voiced by the great man himself. Definitely one of those programmes that could be enjoyed by adults and children alike with humour on many levels.
