Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, Lil, and Angelica were just babies, but their adventures were anything but childish.

Answer: Rugrats

The babies have starred in over 100 episodes. In 2003, the "Rugrats" spin-off, "Rugrats: All Grown Up" premiered. Tommy and his pals were all ten years older.
2. When the world was invaded by evil space creatures, Zordon called upon Jason, Kimberly, Billy, Trini, Zack, and Tommy to kick these aliens into another dimension.

Answer: Mighty Morphin Power Rangers

"Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" made its debut on the FOX network in 1993. There has been at least five spin-off shows since then, including "Power Rangers Zeo", "Power Rangers Turbo", "Power Rangers in the Lost Galaxy", and "Power Rangers Wild Force". I still have all of my Power Rangers toys from so long ago.
3. Tom, Kevin, and Annie Porter were just an average family from California until they drove through a time warp. The Porters found themselves in a world of dinosaurs, evil lizard people, and vast paradise, with a young cavewoman as their guide.

Answer: 'Land of the Lost'- 1991 version

Most people think of the show from the 1970s when they think of "Land of the Lost". One of my favorite overlooked shows was the remake of "Land of the Lost". This show was always full of adventure, humor, and suspense. It began on ABC in 1991 and also made an appearance on Nickelodeon a few years later. I still have my "Land of the Lost" toys, which are now almost impossible to find.
Some of the toys were figures of Tom, Kevin, Annie, Christa, Tasha, Stink, Shung, and Nimm.
4. Another show I absolutely loved was a cartoon about a tiny little man and his tiny little wife. The man was a doctor and loved all the animals. This couple lived in a peaceful forest, but they had to watch out for the mean and greedy trolls.

Answer: The World of David the Gnome

David the gnome was always having exciting adventures, including outrunning a huge snake, retrieving a magic scapel from a volcano, and racing the trolls down 1000 steps to save the magical Shadowless Stone. David and his wife Lisa were friends to elves, wizards, and fairies. David rode everywhere on Swift, a fox. "The World of David the Gnome" was based on the book "The Gnomes", by Dutch authors Rien Poortvliet and Wil Huygen.

The cartoon show began on Nickelodeon in 1988. My favorite episodes were "The Magic Knife", "Kingdom of the Elves", "Any Milk Today", "Big Bad Tom", and "Ghost of the Black Lake". "The Littl' Bits" is not misspelled. For some reason, the "e" was left out. That's the way it appeared on the show.
5. "One elephant went out to play, upon a spider's web one day. He had such enormous fun that he called for another elephant to come." is the theme song of which kiddie show?

Answer: The Elephant Show

"The Elephant Show" was one of the funniest shows on Nickelodeon. It starred Canadian singing trio Sharon, Lois, and Bram, and someone in an elephant costume. "The Elephant Show" had aired for a few years in Canada before it arrived on Nickelodeon. Sharon, Lois, and Bram always performed a concert at the end of each episode.

They also starred in "Skinamarink TV", which debuted on The Learning Channel in the mid '90s. My favorite episode of "The Elephant Show" took place at a pioneer village. Sharon, Lois, and Bram had to learn how the pioneers lived, including weaving wool through a spinning wheel, making a homemade apple pie, and working an old-fashioned printing press.
6. Everyone must admit that many kids loved the big, purple dinosaur from the hit PBS show. He played games, sang songs, and made crafts with young children after school. He was also just a stuffed toy which came to life if the kids used their imaginations.

Answer: Barney and Friends

"Barney and Friends" was not always just a TV show. He was originally the star of a video series. Most of the original episodes from these videos never aired on TV. I bought some of these videos when I was in preschool. A few of these episodes were "Barney's Campfire Singalong", "Waiting For Santa", "Three Wishes", and "Barney's Magical Musical Adventure". Barney arrived on PBS in 1993 and is still one of the most watched shows for preschool children. One of the Barney specials I loved was "Imagination Island".

The children and Barney rode a ship to a magic island and met a wacky toy inventor. Did you know that Barney was blue in the original episodes? "Three Wishes" is one of the rare episodes which features a blue, not purple, Barney.
7. Every morning before preschool I would watch this cute show on The Learning Channel, about a village of animals. Some of the animals were Bill the Beaver, Van Gogh the Lion, Bravo the Fox, and Whazzat the Kangaroo. This show was not animated. It starred real-live actors in animal costumes. Can you name the show?

Answer: Zoobilee Zoo

Not a lot of people remember "Zoobilee Zoo". It began in the early '90s and was on every morning on The Learning Channel. Mayor Ben, a leopard and mayor of Zoobilee Zoo, introduced each episode. Each animal in Zoobilee Zoo had a profession. Talkatoo the parrot was a newspaper reporter, Whazzat owned a music instrument store, Bravo was an actor and theater director, Lookout was an explorer, Bill was a carpenter, and Van Gogh was a painter. One of my favorite episodes was called "Speak to Me, Bill".

In this episode, Van Gogh and Bill stop speaking to one another.
8. This next show is liked by many adults as well as children. Shaggy, Fred, Velma, Daphne, and their dog are always on the case to stop a crook dressed as a monster. Shaggy and the dog are afraid of everything. Every villain always says, "I would have gotten away with it, if it hadn't have been for those meddling kids and their dog."

Answer: Scooby-Doo, Where Are You

"Scooby-Doo, Where Are You" premiered in 1969. Since then, Scooby has starred in hundreds of episodes, and many, many spin-offs. Some of these "Scooby-Doo" shows were "The Scooby and Scrappy-Doo Puppy Hour", "Scooby's Mystery Funhouse", and "Scooby-Doo Movie", with hour-long episodes.

This crime solving canine has also appeared in at least four animated movies and two live-action movies. My favorite episode of "Scooby-Doo, Where Are You" featured a crook running rampant in a Chinese palace, dressed as the Moon Monster. I have seen so many episodes I cannot even remember them all.
9. This next show from Nickelodeon featured puppet characters. They lived in a giant's castle music box. The main characters were a little wizard who could never make the right magic, a dragon named Magellan, with a tail which had a mind of its own, and Batly, who spent more time crashing than flying.

Answer: Eureeka's Castle

I was crazy about "Eureeka's Castle" when I was a child. Eureeka always tried to make magic, but all of her spells seemed to go wrong. Magellan always accidentally tripped everyone with his tail, and when he sneezed, it could be heard all over the castle. Bog and Quag lived in the moat below the castle. Batly was a near-sighted bat who never landed on his two feet.

After every crash, he would say, "I meant to do that!" Mr. Knack could always find a gadget to fit any situation. The Fishtones were a talking fountain outside the castle, who alway sprayed water at anyone passing by. "Eureeka's Castle" also featured childrens books and short animations. I still have all of my "Eureeka's Castle" toys. I have a set of stuffed dolls, hand puppets, books, and foam shape-makers, a set of toys offered only at Hardees a long time ago. I even have a breakfast tray of the cast.
10. This group of little bears lived in the clouds. Each bear had its own special power. These bears had to work together to protect their home from the evil Noheart and his henchmen. When a bear was in trouble, it did the "Stare" and a beam of light would shine from its tummy. When a group of bears did the Stare, it could have incredible effects. Who were these little bears?

Answer: The Care Bears

"The Care Bears" was one of the cutest shows on the Disney channel. They lived in a cloud kingdom called Care-a-lot. The Carebears included Laugh-a-lot Bear, Grumpy Bear, Cheer Bear, Good Luck Bear, Wish Bear, Bedtime Bear, Share Bear, and the cubs, Hugs and Tugs.

The Carebears have starred in many movies as well. My favorite episode of "The Carebears" was about how Noheart unleashed a cloud-eating monster on Care-a-lot. Don't you think a cloud-eating monster could have devastating effects on a world that's just made of clouds?
