Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Professors Yana and Thascalos were aliases used by which villain?

Answer: The Master

Professor Yana was introduced in the season three episode "Utopia" as a man who was trying to save the remainder of the people left in the universe. However, when the Doctor arrives it sets loose memories locked away inside his fog watch which reveals to him his true identity. Afterwards, he goes back to Martha's time to become Prime Minister and take over the Earth.
2. What was the name of the small disc that the Doctor was trapped in for four and a half billion years?

Answer: Confession Dial

The confession dial was introduced in the episode "The Magician's Apprentice" and was brought back in the final 3 episodes of the ninth season. The Time Lords trap the Doctor inside where he is stuck in a loop of dying and reloading himself for over 4.5 billion years while running away from a creature from his nightmares, all in order to get the Doctor to reveal what he knows about "The Hybrid".

He eventually escapes where he then returns to Gallifrey and banishes the President and High Council, disgusted that they had turned his confession dial into a torture chamber.
3. Which race of reptile-like humanoids share their name with an ancient Welsh tribe?

Answer: Silurians

The Silurians first appeared in the "Classic Who" 1970 serial "Doctor Who and the Silurians" and first appeared in the "New Who" 2010 episode "The Hungry Earth" which looked much different than their classic selves. They appeared as prehistoric and scientifically advanced sentient human-like creatures who predate the dawn of man who had gone hibernation in anticipation of a large atmospheric upheaval caused by the moon coming into Earth's orbit.
4. What is Clara's last name?

Answer: Oswald

Clara is first introduced in the season seven episode "Asylum of the Daleks" as a girl trapped inside a planet sized Dalek Asylum who was then mutated into a Dalek and died saving the Doctor, Amy, and Rory. She then appeared in Victorian London as a Governess who helped the Doctor defeat The Great Intelligence, again, dying in the process.

Her final "introduction" was as someone who called the Doctor on the TARDIS phone as "the best help line in the world". This is when she finally traveled with the Doctor.
5. What was the name of the woman who took in the TARDIS' spirit?

Answer: Idris

In the episode "The Doctor's Wife" a lone planet (named "House") in a pocket-like universe along with its inhabitants trap the TARDIS' spirit inside of a woman in order for House to eat the TARDIS, but when the Doctor reveals that this is the last TARDIS in existence, House takes over the TARDIS shell, trying to get back to the main universe in order to find more food.
6. That is the planet that is said to be the place the Doctor will die?

Answer: Tranzalore

Dorium Maldovar in the episode "The Wedding of River Song":

"But you're a fool nonetheless. It's all still waiting for you. The fields of Trenzalore, the fall of the Eleventh, and the question...the first question. The question that must never be answered, hidden in plain sight. The question you've been running from all your life. Doctor who? Doctor who? Doctor Who."

The Doctor in "The Name of the Doctor":

"You didn't listen, did you? You lot never do. That's the problem. The Doctor has a secret he will take to the grave. It is discovered. He wasn't talking about my secret. No, no, no, that's not what's been found. He was talking about my grave. Trenzalore is where I'm buried."
7. What name do Sarah Jane and Mickey share?

Answer: Smith

Sarah Jane first appears in the Third Doctor serial "The Time Warrior" (1973-74) and traveled with the Doctor until 1976 and in 1981 starred in the pilot for the spin-off "K-9 and Company" and featured in the 1983 20th anniversary episode "The Five Doctors" as well as a few other appearances in the 1990s. She returned in 2006's "School Reunion" with the 10th Doctor. Her appearance in the show spawned a spin-off titles, "The Sarah Jane Adventures" that aired from January 1, 2007 until October 18, 2011.

Mickey Smith appeared in the pilot episode of the 2005 return as Rose Tyler's boyfriend. He appears in five of the season 1 episodes as well as the 2005 Christmas special. In season 2 he appears in four consecutive beginning episodes before he opts to stay in a parallel world in order to help them defeat the Cybermen attack that world. He returns in the final two episodes of the season to stop the Cybermen from his new world slipping through to his old, and stay there at the end of the season. He makes two other appearances in the season four finale where he returns to his home world, and briefly in the 10th Doctor's final episode where it shows him and Martha Jones happily married and hunting aliens.
8. What is the title of the first episode of the revived series?

Answer: Ten

Rose Tyler started her tenure on the show with the 9th Doctor in the 2005 premiere "Rose" but carried over when the Doctor regenerated, her first episodes with him being "The Christmas Invasion" special December 2005 and "New Earth" April 2006. Her official companionship ended July 2006 in "Doomsday" although she has appeared sporadically through more seasons.

Martha Jones made her appearance in March 2006 with "Smith and Jones" after the departure of Rose Tyler and ended her official companionship in June 2006 with "Last of the Time Lords" but made more appearances in the show as well as in the spin-off "Torchwood".

Donna Noble made her first appearance in the 2006 Christmas Special "The Runaway Bride" (between the companions Rose and Martha) but she declined the Doctor's offer to travel. She reappeared in April 2008 in "Partners in Crime" where she decides to go with him this time. She finishes her tenure in July 2008 in "Journey's End" but she too makes appearances after her departure from the TARDIS.

Answer: Bill Potts

After an alien encounter she ends up traveling with him for the remainder of the season and the following Christmas Special. In the finale of the season however she is killed by a Cyberman and subsequently turned into one but retains her humanity.

After a battle that leaves the Doctor near death, a girl she had fallen in love that had been turned into an alien herself returns to offer Bill an exploration of the universe.

She returns as a living avatar of Bill's memories where she helps the Doctor accept his need to regenerate.
