3. Nerva is home to a system of cryogenic chambers, which have kept the surviving human race in stasis for thousands of years. What catastrophe caused the human race to go into hibernation?

Answer: Solar Flares

The human race knew ahead of time that mass extinction was imminent, and prepared by building Nerva, choosing a select few humans to be preserved, and saving an archive of all human accomplishments. After seeing all of this, the Doctor remarks how amazing the human race is.
4. The Doctor isn't the only alien inside Nerva. A large insect-like creature has stowed away on the station, and meddled with the controls, causing the frozen humans to stay in hibernation longer than expected. What race was this creature part of?

Answer: Wirrn

The first of the Wirrn encountered by The Doctor had been dead for a long time, but it managed to lay eggs before its death. Several Wirrn eggs infected members of the Nerva crew, and caused them to become Wirrn themselves.
5. A man named Lazer was chosen to lead the new human civilization. What name was bestowed upon Lazer?

Answer: Dune

He was taken from his cryogenic chamber by a Wirrn larva, who aquired all of his memories and knowledge. Since Dune was a station technician, the larva knew how to sabotage Nerva's systems, and later causes Noah to transform into a Wirrn.

Answer: Rogin

9. What causes the shuttle with the Wirrn onboard to explode?

Answer: Self-destruction

Apparently, the Wirrn who used to be Noah still had a shred of humanity left in him. He caused the ship's own destruction after leaving a final message to the station ("Goodbye, Vira").

Answer: Revenge Of The Cybermen

The Doctor, Sarah Jane, and Harry return to Nerva in the 29th century, thousands of years before this episode takes place. The Nerva sets in "The Ark In Space" were reused for this serial.
