Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. As always, the episode begins with Bart writing on the school board. Which word completes the sentence he wrote, "no one cares what my definition of ___ is"?

Answer: Is

Bart's writing of "no one cares what my definition of 'is' is" refers to former United States President Bill Clinton, and the sexual scandal he was involved in. It is an allusion to Clinton's statement to the grand jury, where he said "it depends on what the meaning of the word "is" is".
2. Almost every episode of "The Simpsons" begins with a couch gag. What did the family do this time?

Answer: Lower a safety bar as if their couch was a roller coaster

After Homer is ran over by Marge's car, he opens the door, as usual, and the family sits on the couch. After this, a safety bar is lowered and the couch begins to move as if it were a roller coaster. This couch gag was also used in episode "Marge Simpson in 'Screaming Yellow Honkers'", the fifteenth episode of season 10.
3. After the couch gag, Mr. Burns appears in company of Smithers. Burns reviews what he packed himself for lunch. Which of these items were NOT among the foods Mr. Burns packed?

Answer: A hamburger

Mr. Burns' lunch consists of one Bouillon cube, one Concord grape, a Philly Cheese Steak and a jar of garlic pickles. Burns tells Smithers that no one would dare to kiss him after eating the pickles, and Smithers replies that it's their loss. Neither Burns or Smithers can open the pickle jar, so they ask their employees to do so, but none of them can!
4. Mr. Burns thinks it's time for new, young employees to join the nuclear plant, so he decides to make a promotional short film to recruit new people. What are Lenny, Carl and Homer dressed like during the movie?

Answer: Newly graduated teens from college

Mr. Burns is looking for young recruits for his nuclear plant, so he decides to dress his employees as newly graduated students looking for a job. Homer suggests they need good careers, and they refer to nuclear power as a "bright future". The commercial encourages people to take nuclear power careers. Even though Homer's acting isn't exactly remarkable, his family applauded him when the commercial ended!
5. Homer thinks his acting is so good, he fills a form to join the Screen Actors Guild. However, Lisa notices that Homer only wrote a "J" instead of his full second name, and suggests that Homer lies, since he already invented a fake film credit. After Homer refuses to lie (again), which document does Marge mention, in which Homer lied a lot?

Answer: Mortgage application

Homer asks his dad, Grandpa Simpson, what the "J" in his second name stands for, but it turns out he doesn't know either! He says that his mom was in charge of that, but since she is running from the law, they wouldn't be able to know. Bart and Lisa tell their father that he might as well lie, since he already invented a "phony film credit", to which Homer responds: "Homer Simpson does not lie twice on the same form". Marge immediately reminds Homer he lied "dozens of times" in a mortgage application.
6. Homer says he is a grown man and therefore deserves to have a middle name. He drives with his dad to a place where Homer's mother could be living in, since she was a hippie. Where did they go?

Answer: Groovy Grove Natural Farm

When Grandpa Simpson suggests having a father and son chat on their way, Homer tells him he'll "shoot himself for bringing it up". When they get to the "Groovy Grove Natural Farm", Abe calls it a "hippie commune". Homer looks around and says he can feel the good vibrations of the place, unfortunately for him, those vibrations were coming from the beehive he stuck his hand in!
7. The hippies at the farm tell Abe they hadn't seen him since Woodstock, where he went with his wife. Homer sees a mural his mom painted, which included his full name. What is written in the mural, besides Homer's complete name?

Answer: Let your spirit soar

Abe remembers that the hippies tried to teach their beliefs to Homer, which didn't happen because Abe stopped it. Then, they tell Homer that his mother left him a mural and a poncho. The mural represents a young Homer flying in a rainbow through the galaxy, with the words "let your spirit soar", and "with love, to my son, Homer Jay Simpson".

This reveals for the first time in the show that Homer's second name is Jay.
8. Homer convinces the hippies to go back to their roots and ride a flower-covered car around Springfield. On their way, three different songs play in the car. Which of these is NOT played?

Answer: "All You Need is Love" by The Beatles

Homer's father told him that hippies don't work, which is why he decided to become one. However, he was surprised when Seth and Munchie, the hippies, tell him they work in an organic juice company. Homer convinces them to leave work for a while and travel to Springfield.

The first song to play is "Incense and Peppermints" by Strawberry Alarm Clock, which Homer doesn't like. He then plays "Uptown Girl" by Billy Joel, which surprised the hippies. While they go through the streets, Homer yells at Flanders while "Hair" by Galt MacDermot plays in the background.

They then proceed to "free" all students from Springfield Elementary School, leaving Skinner stunned since he served in the Vietnam War, and isn't quite fond of hippies.
9. After the hippies close the school, they return to the farm, but find an unpleasant surprise. Juice bottles are broken and juice is spilled all over the floor, since an item left by Homer jammed the machine. Which item, which is also known as a flying disc, did Homer leave in the machine?

Answer: Frisbee

Homer had an orange Frisbee with his name (Homer Jay) written on it, but left it on the juice machine, causing juice bottles to break all over the floor. The hippies get mad since their whole shipment is ruined, and they would lose a lot of money. They tell Homer he's not a hippie and never will be, which disappoints Homer. Frustrated, Homer throws the Frisbee, but it turns around and breaks Seth and Munchie's window!
10. Homer delivers juice to everyone who ordered it, compensating for the loss he would have caused, but Seth and Munchie are worried, since some of the vegetables Homer used for the juice came from their "personal vegetables" section, in other words drugs. When the police showed up in the farm, what did Chief Wiggum shoot to Homer's head?

Answer: Flower

Since the juice sales would not happen because of Homer, he tries to make it up to Seth and Munchie. The next day, they are awoken with no vegetables at all in their fields, as Homer used everything he found to make juice. Some of the vegetables he used, though, were the hippies' "personal vegetables", which is peyote, a kind of hallucinogenic drug. Everyone in Springfield drinking the juice experiences hallucinations, and the police goes after the hippies. Homer tries to convince them not to harm them following hippie ideals of non-violence, and places a flower in each of the officer's guns. Chief Wiggum doesn't seem to care and shoots, sticking a flower in Homer's forehead, who ends up almost unharmed at the hospital (except for the fact that there is a flower lodged in his head).
