Ben was Mark's 650 pound black bear, which the family adopted. This bear's real name was Bruno the Bear. Mark and Ben were always outwitting criminals which led to their capture. The book "Gentle Ben" was written by Walt Morey and was the inspiration for the television series.

Corky's parents were trapeze artists in the circus, and they tragically died doing an act. Young Corky was adopted by the circus people.

Corky could be seen tending to Bimbo's needs and many of the other animals' needs. In one episode, while brushing Bimbo's teeth, Corky said, "Bimbo you've got to brush your teeth after every meal, 'cause if you ever got a toothache that would be too bad."

"The Adventures of Rin Tin Tin" (1954-1959) starred Lee Aaker as Rusty. Rusty and his German shepherd, Rin Tin Tin, were always helping the US Cavalry soldiers to bring about proper order in the American West. Rin Tin Tin had appeared in a variety of movies and radio programs since as early as 1922. Other stars of "The Adventures of Rin Tin Tin" included James Brown, Joe Sawyer and Rand Brooks.

Cleo was a basset hound. Jackie Cooper played the role of Socrates "Sock" Miller. He was an ex-marine and city councilor who had frequent disagreements with the city's mayor. Mary Jane Croft did the voice for Cleo, as Cleo's thoughts were clearly spoken to only the viewing audience. The show ran on NBC from 1955-1958.

Bernardo, the mute played by George J. Lewis, gave Toronado, a black Andalusian horse, to Don Diego de la Vega (played by Guy Williams). Zorro was first created by Johnston McCulley in 1919 in "The Curse of Capistrano" which was a five part serial for pulp magazine "All-Story Weekly". The television series was produced by Walt Disney Productions and was based on the character of Zorro (Don Diego de la Vega). Often as Zorro successfully eluded being captured by Sergeant Garcia (played by Henry Calvin), he could be seen upon his wonderful horse, Toronado, as they thundered off into the distance.

"Mr. Ed" was played by a Palomino horse named Bamboo Harvester, who was a show and parade horse. For the television series, the horse's handlers simulated him talking by placing peanut butter in his mouth, which he loved. He would continue to lick his lips until the peanut butter was all gone, which made him appear to be talking. Mr. Ed's voice was supplied by actor Allan Lane.

On the show, Mr. Ed was owned by Wilbur Post (Alan Young), who got into many different kinds of trouble because of the talking horse. Carol Post (Connie Hines) thought that Wilber loved Mr. Ed more than her, so this also created problems for Post. Mr. Ed managed to get out of the barn on a variety of occasions to cause some mischief. Of course, Wilbur was blamed for those antics.

Answer: Santa's Little Helper from "The Simpsons"

Much like his cartoon family on "The Simpsons" (1989 debut), Santa's Little Helper has not aged a single day throughout the run of the groundbreaking animated series. In the first full-length episode of the series, Homer went to the dog track to try and win money for Christmas presents. He bet his money on the long shot Greyhound named Santa's Little Helper. The dog ended up losing the race and being abandoned by his owner. Homer took the dog home for the family's Christmas present. In addition to becoming close to Bart and joining him on many adventures, Santa's Little Helper has also sired over 30 children.

Marcel was Ross' (David Schwimmer) capuchin monkey on the television series "Friends" (1994 - 2004). The part was played by two monkeys, one called Kate and one called Monkey. Marcel liked the song "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" and liked to leave monkey "presents" in shoes. The "Friends" sitcom was created by David Crane and Marta Kauffman.

The two monkeys which played the role of Marcel have also appeared in such hits as "Outbreak" (1995), "Ace Ventura II: When Nature Calls" (1995), "Instinct" (1999), "Addicted to Love" (1997), "George of the Jungle" (1997), and "Flintstones II: Viva Rock Vegas" (2000).

"Daktari" was a fictional story based around an East African Animal Behaviour Center named Wameru. The show revolved around the staff protecting the animals from natural calamities and human predators. The poaching of wild animals was a huge problem in the 1960s.

The main characters included the veterinarian Dr. Marsh Tracy, played by Marshall Thompson, along with his daughter Paula, played by Cheryl Miller, and their two pets, Clarence the lion and Judy the chimpanzee. Erin Moran (Joanie from "Happy Days" [1974-1984]) joined the cast of "Daktari" in the last season. She played the role of seven year old Jenny Jones, who was an orphan who was taken in by the Tracy family.

"Daktari" ran for four seasons from 1966 to 1969 and was based upon the movie "Clarence, the Cross-Eyed Lion" (1965). Dr. A. M. Harthoorn and his wife Sue Harthoorn were the true inspiration for this film. The name "Daktari" means "doctor" in Swahili.

Apollo and Zeus from the "Magnum P.I." (1980-1988) series were Doberman pinschers. The character Jonathan Quayle Higgins III (played by John Hillerman) was the owner of these very loyal and dedicated guard dogs. Apollo was played by Brutus and Zeus was played by Dominique. Both dogs were trained by Mr. Scott Hart. Unbelievably, these dogs made an income of one thousand dollars each week. In the series, the dogs were often referred to as "the Lads". Actor Tom Selleck played the role of Thomas Magnum, a private investigator in Oahu, Hawaii. Roger E. Mosley played the role of Theodore Calvin, a helicopter pilot.
