"The Lone Ranger" was an American TV series that ran from 1949-1957. The basic plot of the show was about the adventures of a masked hero and his Native American partner. Clayton Moore played the title character in 169 episodes of the TV series. Born Jack Carlton Moore in 1914, Clayton Moore appeared in 79 TV and film roles throughout his career. Clayton Moore died in December 1999 at the age of 85.

The character of Eddie the dog featured throughout the lifetime of "Frasier" which ran from 1993-2004. In that time, Eddie was played by two dogs, firstly by Moose and then by Moose's son Enzo. Moose finally hung up his collar in 2000; he was 10 years of age by then. His son Enzo took up the role until the show ended in 2004. Moose died in 2006 at the grand old age of 16.

There were also two films made called "Flipper", the first in 1963 with the tagline "The wonderful story of a boy and his amazing underwater friend!" and again in 1996 with the tagline "This summer it's finally safe to go back in the water".

Australian TV series "Skippy" ran from 1968-1970. The plot was very similar to other animal based shows of the 1960's such as "Flipper", "Lassie" and even "Gentle Ben". The star of the show, Skippy was actually played by three different kangaroos. The three kangaroos were; Jo-Jo, Stumpy and Wildy. Probably the best remembered aspect of the show was its theme tune. Don't worry; I won't attempt to sing it!

"Seaquest DSV" ran from 1993-1996. The plot of the show revolved around a deep sea submarine called Seaquest which was part of the UEO (United Earth Oceans) fleet. Because, by the middle of the 21st century mankind had colonised the oceans and some organisation needed to police the ocean.

The shows starred among others, Ted Raimi, Peter DeLuise and of course star of the show Roy Scheider. The dolphin that appeared on the show was fitted with a device that allowed him to communicate with his human masters. Darwin, the dolphin was used by the crew of Seaquest to explore the depths of the sea for them.

The dog does belong to presenter Richard Hammond and has appeared on a number of episodes. The Top Gear Dog is a cross breed between a Labrador and a Poodle. Jeremy Clarkson regularly refers to the dog as a Labradoodle, which of course is not a real breed of dog. Believe or not the Top Gear Dog has its own Facebook page as well as a wiki page, a bebo page and even appears on IMDB.

Zuppy the puppy appeared on the children's TV programme "The Den" which was aired on Irish TV during the 1990's. Perhaps Zuppys appeal didn't extend beyond Irish shores or perhaps Zig and Zag never got around to house training him, whatever the reason we never seen much of Zuppy. Zig and Zag have appeared on TV programs such as "The Big Breakfast", "The Zig and Zag show", "Zig and Zag's Dirty Deeds" and "2Phat" as well as numerous radio and television talk shows. Zig and Zag are puppets created by Irish duo Mick O' Hara and Ciaran Morrison.

Gordon the Gopher didn't speak, he just made squeaking noises that presenter Philip Schofield would interpret for the kids in the studio and the kids watching at home.
