The Salemites came face to face with Tony and Bart on the pier as they headed for the rafts. Tony found out that Patrick had turned traitor to the DiMera organization and ordered Bart to shoot him. Bart choked, and there was stalling as Tony rambled about the technology in his briefcase. Finally, Tony decided to handle the situation himself but never did. Marlena told Tony that she did not believe he was not capable of murder and he replied, "Isn't that what they said about you?"

Answer: Atmosphere

Tony revealed that the island was just "practice" for his real master plan to take over the world. He claimed that he would dominate the world by controlling the tides, weather and volcanoes as he did on the island. All his computer programs were contained in that one briefcase (somehow).

Answer: Her wedding band

Maggie had perfect timing when she returned from the rafts. She arrived just as Tony was about to kill Patrick, and created the distraction that saved his life. When Marlena asked why she had come back, Maggie said that she realized she had forgotten her wedding band and could not go back to Mickey without it.

Answer: The rafts were safely offshore

As the flare burst into the sky it created a distraction so that John, Roman and Bo could disarm Tony. Bo told Tony that it was over, and the flare meant everyone on the rafts was safely offshore. Tony agreed that it was over- for all of them.

When the flare set off, Hope managed to get control of Tony's technology in the silver case. She held it over the lava, threatening to drop it. Bo told Tony that they would all see how powerful the Count was when all his technology floated away in a sea of molton lava. Hope dropped the case, and it seemed all of Tony's plans were destroyed- except one. Tony had only one undestroyed plan, and held the volcano activator in his hand. Grinning like a mad man he proclaimed going out in a blaze of glory, at the top of the world, and it was the end for them all.

Answer: Beneath the crates

When a massive shake occurred from the volcano and shook the land, Roman and Marlena saw the crates wobble. When they moved them aside, they found the hidden staircase that led them to where John and Tony were.

Somehow, even with an injured shoulder, John managed to swordfight with Tony. It was clear that his left shoulder was in pain, though, when he held it back and fought with his right. Tony was nearly overpowered by his strength and announced that his father's killing machine had been "reborn".

Black and white images of Marlena flashed in John's mind like life flashing before his eyes. The thoughts and memories gave him the power to "come back to life". Then the swordfight became a fistfight, and Tony and John both recognized that only one would make it out alive.

Towards the end of the battle, Tony was losing ground and realized that he needed a distraction for John. He used a device to swing the door open, revealing a stunned Marlena outside. A dagger swung through the air towards her as John leapt to close it.

The blade lodged into the wood as Tony retrieved John's weapon. Unforutnately for Tony, this "distraction" was his fatal mistake because John threw the knife in the door into Tony's throat.

As the volcano shook the ground, a pillar fell from the building onto John and caused his back injury. Roman and Marlena had to take him to the rafts, but not before Tony was able to pull off his final plan. With the last of his strength, he flipped the volcano activation switch and it was set to erupt.

The Salemites scrambled onto the rafts and shoved offshore as Melaswen exploded in the background.
