Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Best friend, fellow extra

Answer: Maggie Jacobs

Maggie Jacobs was played brilliantly by Scottish native Ashley Jensen. In the show, Maggie and Andy would spend long hours on movie sets, dressed as extras, waiting for their scenes. She would keep Andy entertained by asking him questions such as, "Would you rather be you, with your face and your legs, and the brain of a chimpanzee...or would you rather be a chimpanzee, but with your brain?" Maggie was socially awkward and often put her foot in her mouth, leading to both her and Andy being thrown off sets, but her natural earnestness and sweetness kept them close friends.
2. Loyal but bumbling agent

Answer: Darren Lamb

We don't know how Andy picked Darren Lamb to be his agent, but it's possible that he used the same technique Ricky Gervais used when he needed to hire an assistant when he worked at a radio station: he simply picked up the topmost resume on a pile. It turned out to belong to Stephen Merchant, who went on to be Ricky's partner in a series of highly successful endeavors, including the creation of "The Office." Merchant played Darren Lamb in "Extras." Andy described working with Darren as like "owning a dog and barking yourself."
3. Real name of "Barry from East Enders"

Answer: Shaun Williamson

Shaun Williamson played a version of himself on "Extras," with the same name. But because he was always introduced as the man who played "Barry on East Enders," his name basically became "Barry from East Enders." Barry was Darren's other client, though he never had acting jobs. Instead, he'd hang out at Darren's office and help with things like cleaning the restrooms.
4. Andy's nemesis, fellow actor

Answer: Greg Lindley-Jones

Probably nothing could sour Andy's mood faster than the approach of Greg Lindsey-Jones, a smug fellow actor who never missed a chance to make fun of Andy. He frequently pointed out Andy's lack of acting experience. Andy would try to make Greg feel bad about not being financially self-sufficient, but those insults rolled right off Greg.

He was played by Shaun Pye, who is also a comic and a writer.
5. Played Prospero in "The Tempest" episode

Answer: Sir Patrick Stewart

Every episode of "Extras" featured a big star, usually one playing a hilarious, off-type version of him or herself. The erudite Patrick Stewart, for example, had a conversation in this episode with Andy about how he wanted to make a movie with a lot of naked women.
6. Former game show host

Answer: Les Dennis

The real Les Dennis made light of his personal and professional problems by playing a sad-sack version of himself in "Extras." In his episode, he and Andy were cast in a play together, and Andy delivers the news that Les's younger girlfriend is cheating on him.
7. Actress who played a nun

Answer: Kate Winslet

Kate Winslet played a nun who was hiding Jewish people during World War II. Andy played a Nazi officer and Maggie played a woman in hiding. Winslet, who up to this point had focused more on drama than comedy in her work, played a hilarious, profane, Oscar-desperate version of herself. Both Maggie and Andy in this episode struck out with their love interests.
8. Woman Andy fancied when he played a Nazi

Answer: Suzanne

In the Kate Winslet episode, where Andy had a small part as a Nazi, a young woman named Suzanne played a nun. She and Andy flirted, and she invited him to join her that night. He managed to insult her, her religion, her priest, and her sister in a short period of time.
9. Local theater director, father of Lizzie

Answer: Bunny

Ian Bunting, or Bunny, was a local theater director who directed Andy and Les in "Aladdin." Played by Gerard Kelly, Bunny had a strange relationship with his adult daughter, Lizzie, who was a childhood friend of Maggie's. He was portrayed as forcing Lizzie into show business despite her moderate amount of talent.
10. Director of film about the Yugoslav Wars

Answer: Ben Stiller

Ben Stiller played against type in his episode by being a short-tempered director who frightened a child and made an elderly woman flinch. Maggie and Andy were on set of a serious movie set during a violent civil war, and Stiller played the director, who at first seemed good-natured but, when under pressure, turned snobby and rude, especially to Maggie.

In the bloopers available for this episode, Stiller and Gervais kept breaking up in laughter during the scene.
