D'Argo and Sikozu have a plan to rescue the girls, Noranti, Chiana and Jool. Sikozu tells John that Grayza must have had a gland implanted that makes Heppel oil, which makes men lust after her, though once the gland is implanted the woman loses cycles from her life. John says he's not going back to Grayza ever again, but D'Argo tells John he must "take one for the team." When D'Argo and Sikozu won't tell him the whole plan for fear he may tell Grayza while under her influence, John replies, "I do not get back in the saddle with Mati Hari until I get the whole plan!" Mata Hari seduced men to get information for the Germans during WWI.

The other three are women who also served as spies.

John has to keep Grayza occupied for 2 arns while D'Argo and Sikozu break the girls out before the magnetic summer begins on the planet and kills everyone. Grayza, having John tied up, tells him, "I let you walk unguarded and you repay me by trying to escape?" John replies, "I'm not Steve McQueen, I wasn't trying to escape." This is a reference to Steve McQueen's film "The Great Escape," which also starred Charles Bronson. Clint Eastwood and Tim Robbins both starred in prison escape movies before as well.

Sikozu betrays everyone by telling Braca the planned escape and Braca reports to Grayza. John quips, "Bad news from Smithers?" Smithers is Mr. Burns lackey on "The Simpsons."

Answer: Cool Hand Luke

John, while digging a grave, says, "Is that enough dirt out of your hole, Boss?" to Grayza, referencing the film "Cool Hand Luke" where Luke (Paul Newman) is made to dig a hole, then fill it up, then dig it up again. Grayza is proving that Scorpius is not her superior and has the hybrid shot and he falls into the grave. Sikozu is next in line, but Scorpius, playing dead but still alive, whispers a secret command code to her to yell to Grayza, which saves her life. Unfortunately, Scorpius is then buried alive...

John sees a bug and remembers Noranti telling him the juice from said bug, if snorted, allows the person to forget for a while, which overrides Grayza's gland's effect on him. He ties her up, as if he's about to do something kinky with her, then dresses and leaves.

John, before leaving her tied up, says to Grayza, "Couldn't do it the old-fashioned way, could you? Six pack of beer, a night of bowling, skinny-dipping...Unh unh. I hear you've been putting some junk on the ball, a little monkey, a little Gaylord Perry, a little Joe Niekro." The last references are to baseball players who doctored the ball to cheat.

As part of the plan, Elack, the dying leviathan, crashed into the Peacekeeper Marauders while D'Argo takes off with everyone in his ship, which he calls Lo'la. They escape, but one Marauder survives and Grayza leaves to go after them, but D'Argo sends a probe ahead for them to track instead of them. However, Lo'la has turbine troubles and they must land again, and due to the magnetic summer, the will all be dead in an arn, according to Jool.

Answer: For the bounty

Oo-Nii was promised a bounty for finding the probes by Vella, and that the other two probes are in his lair. With Vella dead, he says he can keep all of the bounty instead of sharing. He jumps into the sea with the last probe and Noranti says he can live under water until the magnetic summer is over.

Answer: Chiana shoots him with the Serax carver

Noranti pulls John's pistol Winona out ("I don't really want to know where you hid her") and throws the pistol into the sea. John dives after Winona and has a fight with Oo-Nii but is knocked out. Before he finishes John off, however, Chiana shows up with the Serax carver and shoots him, turning him into water, much like Vella was fused with the stone in "What Was Lost Part 1."

Answer: All the people from the planet from 12,000 cycles ago reappear

The probes fly up into the air and form a circle, a flash, then the magnetics are reversed. Then John notices the priests in red from his vision and a temple. Noranti says the magnetics from the Darnaz probes must have trapped part of the past when it created magnetic summers. Jool decides to stay and get them caught up on everything that they've missed, and kisses D'Argo good-bye when everyone leaves.
