Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In season one's "The Power of Female Sex", in which fabulous store are Carrie and Amalita when Amalita states, "You can pay me back NEVER!"?

Answer: Dolce & Gabbana

Amalita may have been Euro-trash, but she was generous with her lover's credit card when Carrie's was cut up! Of course, Carrie had to wear her new D&G shoes to go out that very night, and she met the French charmer, Gilles.
2. Who gets a makeover and a Helmut Lang suit in "The Turtle and the Hare"?

Answer: Bernie Turtletaub

Samantha makes over "the Turtle" in this season one episode, calling him her "cute little fixer-upper". Alas, a wonderful designer suit and a facial do not make him less boring, so she is forced to dump him.
3. In season two's "The Caste System", Big gives Carrie a jeweled Judith Lieber minaudiere (evening bag) shaped like which of the following?

Answer: A duck

Carrie was so dumbfounded by the surprise gift that she blurted out "I love you" to Big.

Judith Lieber is famous for jeweled minaudieres in varied shapes, including all of the incorrect answers and many more. The exquisitely detailed bags cost several thousand dollars each.

In season five's "I Love a Charade", Carrie clutches a different Judith Lieber bag at Bobby and Bitsy's wedding. (All fashion info in this quiz not obtained directly from watching the show is from www.hbo.com's "Sex and the City" Episode Fashion Notes, unless otherwise attributed.)
4. Poor Carrie. At the end of season two, Mr. Big moves to Paris and falls in love with another woman--the twentysomething Natasha. For which American designer had Natasha worked in Paris?

Answer: Ralph Lauren

After Big and Natasha's marriage breaks up, she goes back to work for Ralph in New York.

Charlotte in particular can be frequently seen in RL, and in the episode "The Real Me" she mentions that she had been a teen model for the designer's store in Connecticut.
5. In season three, Carrie dates a politician, Bill Kelley. She cultivates a "Jackie Kennedy--The Early Years" look by wearing which designer's outfits?

Answer: Halston

Halston was one of the late First Lady's favorite designers, and is most remembered for designing her iconic "pillbox" hats. Carrie wears vintage Halston in the episode "Politically Erect".
6. Near the end of season three, Carrie was worried that she had bad karma because she broke up Big and Natasha's marriage. Natasha refused to see her, so Carrie barged in on her at lunch. Although Carrie was miserable, she looked beautiful in a white "newsprint" dress by which of these designers?

Answer: Christian Dior

In this episode, "What Goes Around Comes Around", "Christian Dior" is written in huge letters across the front of Carrie's dress...a sexy, trendy little number, perfect for confronting her erstwhile rival. Unfortunately but perhaps understandably, Natasha does not forgive Carrie.
7. Season four's "The Real Me" was a truly memorable episode. You probably recall that Carrie and Heidi Klum wore Dolce & Gabbana, but which other Italian design house had the privilege of dressing former New York City mayor Ed Koch?

Answer: Gucci

Although Hizzoner was definitely a "non-model", Mr. Koch looked great in his Gucci dinner jacket.
8. In season four's "Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda," who really REALLY wanted an Hermès Birkin bag...badly enough to tell a big lie?

Answer: Samantha

Samantha wasn't willing to spend five years on a waiting list for the pricey bag, so she told Hermès that it was for Lucy Liu. She ended up losing her job as Ms. Liu's publicist AND the coveted Birkin.
9. Carrie and adorable Aidan move in together in season four. In the episode "The Good Fight", Aidan wants Carrie to *shudder* clean out her closets! What designer's trendy, "slashed" shirt almost gets thrown out?

Answer: Roberto Cavalli

The Cavalli tunic survived the purge, fortunately. Cavalli outfits made frequent appearances on "SATC". When Carrie was mugged in season three, the mugger got her bag, her jewelry, and her Manolo Blahnik strappy sandals, but not her Roberto Cavalli giraffe-print dress.
10. Carrie wears a Vivienne Westwood short jacket and beautiful pink Chanel shoes with ribbons for which of the following season five events?

Answer: A photo shoot for the cover of her book jacket

In "Cover Girl", Carrie looked beautiful on her book jacket, after a few near-misses. (Her publishers wanted her to be naked, and Samantha tried to dress her in marabou!)
In Atlantic City, Carrie wore a Balenciaga patchwork and metal top.
For Brady's baptism, Godmother Carrie chose a black Narciso Rodriguez dress and large Chanel flower headpiece.
At Bobby and Bitsy's wedding, Carrie's pink strapless dress was by David Dalrymple for House of Field.
11. At Carrie's fabulous book launch party, she wore an Anna Molinari silk slipdress trimmed with feathers and lace. What two colors comprised this outfit?

Answer: Black and white

Carrie had no date for her book party, but she had a wonderful time anyway. Her dress was beautiful, and she wore peach satin Manolo Blahniks with it. She and her female limousine driver went out for hotdogs after the party. The season five episode is called "Plus One is the Loneliest Number".
12. Carrie wore a beaded dress by this design team to Miranda's wedding, and Charlotte's second wedding dress bore their label as well.

Answer: Badgley Mischka

Mark Badgley and James Mischka have only been a design team since 1988, but their forward-thinking yet classic creations were featured prominently on "SATC". Charlotte's stylist Anthony told her that she looked like "Audrey Hepburnowitz" in her Badgley Mischka gown. In addition to wearing a Badgley Mischka design to Miranda's wedding, Carrie was also dressed in their stunning white duchesse satin sheath the night she and Aidan broke up for the final time.

Miu Miu is Miuccia Prada's (slightly) less expensive second label.
13. In season six's "Lights, Camera, Relationship," what fashion-related thing does Carrie do with Jack Berger?

Answer: She takes him to Prada

Berger is surprised that there's free champagne at Prada, until he sees the prices. Carrie, whose writing career is finally paying off, buys him a shirt he can't afford but she can. Her success, coupled with his failures, is the beginning of the end of their relationship.
14. In season six, Carrie reads Aleksandr some "poetry" from "Vogue". "Cocktails at Tiffany's calls for classic charm. ____________ sleeveless silk full-skirted dress with black patent leather bow belt."

Answer: Oscar de la Renta

Carrie's "Russian" buys her the dress, which was from Oscar's spring 2004 couture collection. Say what you like about Petrovsky...the man had CLASS. However, this episode was entitled "The Ick Factor".
15. In this season six episode, Carrie waited endlessly for Petrovsky to come and take her out to dinner. She ended up falling asleep in an extravagant seafoam Versace couture gown with "a thousand layers". Name the episode.

Answer: "An American Girl in Paris (Part Une)"

Carrie moved to Paris to be with her Russian, but she was alone a great deal of the time. In the penultimate episode of the series, she wears Versace and shops at Dior but loses her "Carrie" necklace and is afraid she might be losing herself. It all works out beautifully in the final episode, though!

I hope you have enjoyed this quiz. My other quizzes are not as fashionably fabulous as this one, but I hope you'll try them anyway!
