After musing about how Jemaine has been unsuccessful at meeting women in New York, Bret realizes that the party they're looking for is at their friend Dave's house. Murray, who is the band's manager, points out later that he wasn't invited to Dave's party. Dave, played by Arj Barker, works at a pawn shop and frequently dispenses advice to Bret and Jemaine about how to meet women.

We find out Bret and Jemaine are both from New Zealand at the beginning of the episode. Murray (played by Rhys Darby) is also from New Zealand, and works at the local New Zealand consulate. In real life, Bret and Jemaine met at Victoria University of Wellington.

Jemaine says Sally is beautiful enough to be a part-time model, but would probably have to keep her normal job, too. Sally is played by Rachel Blanchard, who also played Cher in the "Clueless" television series.

After Jemaine buys Sally a kebab, they return to the apartment he shares with Bret. There is an awkward moment later when it comes to light that Sally is Bret's ex-girlfriend.

Due to the odd font, Murray had read the ad posted by the aquarium and thought they were looking for a band. He points out that the aquarium did listen to the demo tape created by the band and may play it in their lobby. Mel stayed at the aquarium until 1 a.m., not realizing the show was canceled.

Due to not having a budget for the video, Murray not only makes the costumes himself but also uses his camera phone to shoot the footage. Jemaine is disappointed that they don't look like Daft Punk and comments that the buttons on the front of the robot costumes resemble nipples.

When Jemaine asks if he can have the apartment on Monday night so Sally can come over, Bret gets irritated, pointing out that he plans to work on his secret project that night. They decide the best way of resolving the problem is to have Bret come along on a date with Jemaine and Sally. Jemaine and Bret purchase leather suits in a later episode, entitled "What Goes on Tour." The 1983 Casio DG-20 electric guitar is featured in another episode, "Bret Gives Up the Dream."

Even though Jemaine convinces Bret that it won't be weird to have him along on his date with Sally, he asks him to leave after they've ordered dinner. Jemaine and Sally take what's left of the duck and duck juice gets all over Sally's top. Jemaine volunteers Bret to pay for her dry-cleaning.

Along with these creative excuses, Jemaine also claims that it's just raining on his face, and they both state they have inflammations in their tear glands. They're actually both crying over Sally.

While Jemaine swears that he's just "making chit-chat," it's obvious he's looking for a way to get back together with Sally. Sally does appear in a later episode, entitled "Sally Returns."
