Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. 'So they want me to star in it, write the theme tune, sing the theme tune...'

Answer: Dennis Waterman

This quote is heard in episodes one, four, and six. Dennis Waterman is an actor. He is a very small man, and we see him visiting his agent. His only job has been a part in 'Minder' because he always insists on writing and singing his own theme tunes!
2. 'Dust. High in fat, low in fat. Anybody? No? Dust. Anybody? No? Dust. Anybody? No? Dust. Anybody? No? Dust.'

Answer: Marjorie Dawes

This quote is from episode three. Marjorie Dawes is the leader of Fatfighters, but she is extremely overweight herself. While telling her group members, or 'fatties' as she calls them, to eat healthily and exercise, she is secretly bingeing on chocolate and cake.

She is very rude to all the members of Fatfighters, offending Meera who is Indian by never understanding what she is saying, although it is perfect English, and calling Pat 'a disgusting fat pig'. She is always telling them to have a bit of dust if they get hungry, as 'dust is very low in fat and you can have as much as you like'.
3. 'If he asks me any more questions about Molly Sugden I shall scream.'

Answer: Liz Bendall

Liz says this in episode two. Liz always boasts that she was the bridesmaid at Molly Sugden's wedding (Molly Sugden is a character in 'Are You Being Served?'), annoying her husband Clive. However, she has actually been making it all up - Molly Sugden has no idea who Liz is!
4. 'Cupboardy. It means, er, cupboard-like.'

Answer: Kenny Craig

This quote is heard in episode three. Kenny Craig, famous stage hypnotist, is visiting his mother in hospital. They are playing 'Scrabble'; Kenny is losing. He adds a 'y' to 'cupboard', making it 'cupboardy'. His mother does not believe him when he claims it means 'cupboard-like', so he has to hypnotise her.
5. 'By the way, the jam roly-poly was delicious. Kitty said. If anything, there could have been more of that! She added.'

Answer: Bernard Chumley

Bernard Chumley says this in episode five. Bernard Chumley used to be an actor and now lives in a council flat with his sister Kitty, who cannot walk after a tragic accident (Bernard claims not to have pushed her)! In this scene, the 'Meals on Wheels' service arrives for Kitty, but Bernard Chumley actually eats all the meals himself! In the quote above, he accidentally tells the 'Meals on Wheels' lady how much he enjoyed yesterday's meal, so he has to quickly cover it up by claiming that that is what Kitty told him!
6. 'Did ye ever hear the legend of the seeded fruit that is often mistooken for a vegetable?... Red in colour and fleshy within, but beware o' the pips. They call it the tom-matto.'

Answer: Ray McCooney

This quote is from episode one. Ray McCooney owns an isolated hotel in Scotland. He has a variety of different instruments and always says 'Yeeeeees'. In this scene, a couple have told him how much they like the soup, and Ray has gone on to describe the exact contents of the soup in great detail. In the end, the couple are fed up and wish they had never said anything at all.
7. 'I love you, Anne, and I want you, Anne, please pull me, Anne, and I'll push you, Anne. Please hurt me, Anne, and bite me, Anne, 'cause I want you, Anne, in the morning.'

Answer: Peter Andre

This quote is from episode four. Peter Andre is the Royal Correspondent for the BBC. He is obsessed with Princess Anne. When he should be covering a Royal event, he starts playing a lute and singing the song above. He is sacked from the BBC due to this incident.
8. 'Say hello to Mr Croc O'Dile. Top of the morning. Where's me breakfast? Never mind about your breakfast. This young lad here wants to know where the masking tape is.'

Answer: Des Kaye

Des Kaye says this is episode four. Des Kaye used to be a children's TV presenter, but now works in a DIY store. He always says 'Wicky Woo' to everybody. He refuses to face the fact that he is no longer on TV and insists on trying to sell the old videos of him amongst the DIY supplies.

He is a very bad staff member - he hassles the customers and introduces his friend 'Mr Croc O'Dile' to them.
9. 'You never told me you had an...older sister.'

Answer: Jason

Jason says this in episode eight. Jason is obsessed with his friend Gary's nan. In this scene, he goes to see Gary's nan without Gary, but her older sister Winnie turns up. Jason feels as if he is in heaven and looks upwards, mouthing 'thank you'.
10. '"Do you know the Bible?" said Lord Harper. "No," said Geraldine. "I've never even heard of it." "Oh, it's really good. Let me read it to you," said Lord Harper.'

Answer: Dame Sally Markham

This quote is from episode six. Dame Sally Markham is a novelist and lives in a large country house. She dictates her novels to Miss Grace, her assistant, who types them on an old typewriter.
