Nick wanted to go to New York City since his son, Phil, was in the hospital and he wanted to pay him a visit. He spoke about this, to Mona, and Mona told Nick to not go and just stay out of Phil's predicament. At this time, Phil did not know that Nick was his biological father and Mona felt that, if Nick visited him in New York City, it would make problems worse. Nick agreed with Mona and did not go visit Nick but he changed his mind and went to the hospital.

Nick told Mona that Phil had been in an accident and he heard about it when he was over at Linc Tyler's house. Linc got a phone call from Ruth (Phil's adoptive mother and maternal aunt) about Phil's accident and Nick could hear Ruth through the phone. Nick and Mona started to talk loudly and this woke up Erica. Erica came to the kitchen, where Nick and Mona were, and Mona told Erica she did not know she was awake. Erica replied that she could not sleep with all the noise since she did not wake up on her own but due to Nick and Mona's loud voices. Nick asked her if she would wish them a good morning and Erica replied, "When it is a good morning." Erica remained awake and did not go back to bed.

Nick said that Joe Martin promised to inform him if there was a sudden change in Phil's condition. Since Nick had not heard from Joe, he started to believe that Joe and others were deliberately withholding information from him. Phil, eventually, fully healed from the accident.

Mona and Erica had a long talk about Erica's quest to find love and Erica told her mother that she loved Jeff Martin. Mona told Erica to proceed about a relationship cautiously so that nobody got hurt. Mona asked Erica if she truly knew what she wanted. Erica said that she not only knew what she wanted but that she would get it.

This was when Erica told Mona she was going to marry Jeff Martin. Erica did marry Jeff Martin later on that year (1971).

Ann Tyler, daughter of Charles and Phoebe Tyler, was the first one to see Phil at his bed side in this episode. Phil told Ann she did not have to go to all the trouble to come see him all the way up in New York City since Phil knew she was busy. Phil asked Ann to not tell Tara about the car accident since he felt she did not need to know. Ann agreed to keep the car accident a secret from Tara, for Phil's sake.

Phil's doctor, at the New York City hospital, was Dr. Colby and Ann asked Phil if he wanted to see him. Dr. Joe Martin was first seen on the phone with Dr. Colby to get an update on Phil's condition. After he got off the phone, he heard a knock at his door and saw that it was his daughter, Tara. He spoke to Tara and talked about how fast she grew up right before his very eyes. Tara and Joe always had a great relationship and still do to this day.

When Joe first saw Tara, at his office door, he said that she was the most elegant looking camp counselor he had ever seen in his life. Tara told her father that she had dressed up since she and him had a dinner date that afternoon. Right before Joe took Tara to dinner, he told her about what happened to Phil but assured her that Phil would be alright. Tara was relieved.

Joe told Tara everything that was happening to Phil, in regards to his health, and he mentioned that an orthopedic surgeon would tend to his needs. Tara asked her father if he could go to the hospital and check on Phil. Joe said that there was no need for him to go to New York City due to how the hospital, where Phil was being treated, was a fine hospital and he knew he was in good hands. Tara asked her father if she should go to see Phil but Joe told her not to since Phil did not want to see anybody.
