5. Which "AMC" actor was the first one to be nominated for a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor?

Answer: Lawrence Keith (Nick Davis)

Lawrence Keith, who played Nick Davis on "AMC" throughout the 1970s and 1980s, was the first actor from the soap to be considered for a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor when he was nominated in 1977. However, he lost to Val Dufour for "Search for Tomorrow." In 1977, the other Daytime Emmy nominees for Outstanding Lead Actor were James Pritchett for "The Doctors", Farley Granger for "One Life to Live", and Larry Haines for "Search for Tomorrow." The first win for "All My Children" in this category was in 1985 when Darnell Williams (Jesse) won the Emmy.
6. Eden Riegel (Bianca) was first nominated for a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Younger Lead Actress in 2001 for her groundbreaking role of Bianca, who at the time was the only lesbian on daytime television. Who did she lose the Emmy to that year?

Answer: Adrienne Frantz for "The Bold and the Beautiful"

Riegel received her first Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Younger Lead Actress for her portrayal of Bianca on "All My Children" in 2001. While she was heavily favored to win, the winner turned out to be Adrienne Frantz for "The Bold and the Beautiful." Riegel picked up a nomination the following year, in the same category, but lost to Jennifer Finnigan of "The Bold and the Beautiful." Riegel was, again, nominated in the same category in 2004 and, again, lost to Jennifer Finnigan of "The Bold and the Beautiful." It was in 2005 that she first won the Emmy for Outstanding Younger Lead Actress for playing Bianca on "All My Children." She submitted tapes surrounding the controversial baby switch story.

In her first tape, Kendall told Bianca that her baby, Miranda, had died and Bianca mourned the loss of her child.

In her second tape, Bianca believed she had heard her baby crying in the hospital nursery and kidnapped her. Ryan and Kendall convinced Bianca to give the baby back to JR and Babe and Bianca did.

In 2005, the other Daytime Emmy nominees for Outstanding Younger Lead Actress were Jennifer Ferrin for "As the World Turns", Alexa Havins for "All My Children", Crystal Hunt for "Guiding Light", and Adrienne Leon for "General Hospital."
7. After 19 nominations, Susan Lucci (Erica) finally won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in 1999. In her acceptance speech, who did she thank first?

Answer: Everybody in the room

On May 21st, 1999 the 26th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards were aired on CBS and there was not a dry eye in the audience when Susan Lucci's name was announced as the winner for Outstanding Lead Actress. Shemar Moore of "The Young and the Restless" ripped open the envelope and yelled, "The streak is over!" and two words that many never believed (even Lucci herself) would be read were: Susan Lucci. Lucci went to the stage and the crowd applauded her for a couple of minutes.

She started her speech by thanking everyone in the room since she felt it was a room full of such talented and hardworking people.

She went on to thank God for her many blessings, her parents, her college drama teachers, and then thanked "All My Children" creator, Agnes Nixon. Lucci credited Nixon with changing the face of the medium and how she was grateful to be in her hands.

She thanked Nixon for creating the role of Erica Kane and for allowing her to be part of her writing full of humanity, passion, and vision. Right after Lucci said this, she stated she had many people to thank but they were telling her to wrap it up, to which the audience groaned and encouraged Lucci to continue. Lucci thanked "All My Children" casting director, Joan D'Incecco, for recognizing her as more than just an ethnic type and casting her as Erica.

She thanked the cast and crew of "All My Children" and then her children, her husband, and the "All My Children" fans.
8. Susan Lucci (Erica), Julia Barr (Brooke), and Marcy Walker (Liza) were all nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in 2001. Did any of them win?

Answer: No

Despite "All My Children" having three of five nominees in the Outstanding Lead Actress field at the 2001 Daytime Emmys, none of the actresses won. The actress who did win was Martha Byrne for "As the World Turns." The other acting nominee was Susan Flannery of "The Bold and the Beautiful." What was unique with this category was all the nominees were previous winners. Lucci submitted tapes surrounding Erica reacting to Bianca's proclamation that she was gay, Barr submitted tapes surrounding Brooke finding out the man she dated was the man who ran down and killed her daughter, Laura, while drunk, and Walker submitted tapes surrounding Liza revealing Colby's paternity.

For both of these years, executive producer Felicia Minei Behr gave the acceptance speech.
