Answer: Endeavour

His parents were Quakers, and "Endeavour" was considered a suitable name for Quakers. Additionally, his father was obsessed with Captain Cook.

Answer: Strange

He was played by the rotund James Grout, and always seemed torn between proper police protocol and indulging Morse.
3. How many episodes of the TV series were made?

Answer: 33

All timed for two-hour long episodes. They spanned a number of years and comparisons between the technology in early episodes and that in the later ones is fascinating.
4. What was Morse's nickname while at university?

Answer: Pagan

He was known as "Pagan" due to his distaste for all things religious. Sergeant Lewis had much amusement when he learnt this nickname.
5. Was Morse briefly married?

Answer: No

Despite several romances he never married, although he came close on at least two occasions.

Answer: Diabetes
