Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Tony Soprano, "The Sopranos"

Answer: Mafia boss

As the charismatic but violent head of the DiMeo crime family, Tony Soprano was one of television's first anti-heroes. Played to great acclaim by James Gandolfini, Tony coped simultaneously with both of his families. "The Sopranos" ran for six seasons, completing its run in 2007.
2. Jermaine or Bret, "Flight of the Conchords"

Answer: Musician

Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie are a real-life comedy band who played a semi-fictional version of themselves in HBO's "Flight of the Conchords," 2007-2009. The boys lived on very little money in New York City and would only occasional play gigs. The very funny show focused on their friendship, dates, musical dreams, and poverty.

It earned many Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics (2007 and 2009). They refer to themselves as "the almost award-winning fourth-most-popular folk duo in New Zealand."
3. Jimmy McNulty, "The Wire"

Answer: Baltimore detective

"The Wire" took a wide and deep look at the city of Baltimore, Maryland, including its police force, port corruption, extensive drug empire, public education system, and newspaper business. Jimmy McNulty, a homicide detective played by the charming Dominic West, drew in many viewers who stayed for the expansive, satisfying story lines and finely-developed characters.

The show was nominated for forty three industry awards and won eight from 2002 to 2008.
4. Valerie Cherish, "The Comeback"

Answer: Actor

In "The Comeback," Lisa Kudrow plays a 40-something actor who had starred in a sitcom years ago and is now trying to resurrect her career. The show has been critically acclaimed, especially for portraying the daily challenges and humiliations of working -- or trying to work -- in Hollywood.

It's unusual in that there was a nine-year gap between seasons one and two. Kudrow won awards for her acting performance for both seasons.
5. Bill Hendrickson, "Big Love"

Answer: Home store owner

On "Big Love," Bill Paxton played Bill Hendrickson, founder and owner of the large Home Depot-inspired Home Plus. It funded his large family, which included up to four wives and ten children. The show covered Bill's relationships with his wives as well as their relationships to each other, and his extended family still living on a polygamist compound.

It ran from 2006 to 2011 and was nominated for many awards. Chloë Savigny won the 2009 Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress - Series, Miniseries or Television Film for her portrayal of Bill's second wife, Nicolette Grant.
6. Stuart Pritchard, "Hello Ladies"

Answer: Web designer

"Hello Ladies" ran for just one season on HBO, 2013-2014. Stephen Merchant played Stuart Pritchard, an Englishman living in Los Angeles as a website designer who desperately wanted to date models. Despite Merchant's extreme likability in this role, the show was not renewed for a second season. He stands 6'7" tall, ten inches taller than the average Englishman.
7. Dawn Forchette, "Getting On" (U.S. version)

Answer: Nurse

The HBO version of "Getting On" ran from 2013 to 2015 and starred Alex Borstein as head nurse Dawn Franchette. The original version of the same name played on BBC4 (2009-2012) and starred Jo Brand as the charge nurse. Both editions received critical acclaim, including a 2012 BAFTA Award for the British version and and grade of "A-" from "Entertainment Weekly" (2015).
8. Paul Weston, "In Treatment"

Answer: Psychologist

The fabulous Gabriel Byrne starred as psychologist Paul Weston on "In Treatment" from 2008 to 2010. The format was unusual, with Paul spending most of the 22-30-minute run time with one patient in one long scene. This allowed for in-depth psychological counseling and a rare look at the therapeutic process.

It was based on the Israeli show "BeTipul." Paul's patients were played by major actors such as Josh Charles, Blair Underwood, Hope Davis, Irrfan Khan, and Debra Winger.
9. Jonathan Ames, "Bored to Death"

Answer: Writer, amateur sleuth

Played by actor Jason Schwartzman, Jonathan Ames was a fledgling writer in Brooklyn who advertised himself as an unlicensed private investigator on Craigslist and tried to solve crimes to bring in a little extra money and find interesting experiences for his writing. Ted Danson played a magazine editor and Jonathan's mentor of sorts, and Zach Galifianakis played Jonathon's best friend.

It ran for three season, 2009-2011.
10. Robert Baratheon, "The Game of Thrones"

Answer: Seven Kingdoms King

In HBO's tour de force series "The Game of Thrones," King Robert Baratheon played an important role. When the series opened, Robert was King of all of Westeros, yet was facing an empty treasury, untrustworthy advisors, a starchy Queen, and a worrisome heir.

He tended to avoid his troubles by drinking, and it was in a drunken confrontation with a boar on a hunting trip that he brought about his own end. Not particularly devoted, his Queen made sure he was good and drunk that day. Robert's death brought upon many conflicts over the Iron Throne.
