During one episode Earl informs Darnell, who Earl and many others call Crabman, that one night he switched Darnell's special brownies with regular ones.

This was to get the special ones for a cheap price. A different price was paid by Darnell when his other customers who bought the higher priced regular brownies showed up to complain as he was leaving work.

Roseanne Barr's character had lived in the same trailer park as Earl and Joy. She was constantly making life miserable for Joy. Using a cheap walkie-talkie that tuned into the frequency of the hearing aid worn by Barr's character. Earl used this to convince her God was talking to her.

This caused Barr's character to turn her life around from being angry all the time, to being a kindly nun. One of the few times where something wrong Earl did ended up having a positive influence on someone's life.

Earl feels he cheated himself out of becoming an adult, and one of the sub items on this list is getting a real job. Earl and Randy start out as dockers, moving the merchandise from the trucks to the storage area or out to the display areas. Earl decides to take it a step further and he earns a chance to become a salesman. After his trial period is almost over and all of Earl's sales were taken out from under him by the other slick talking salesman, Charles Dutton and the rest of the dockers use their company credit cards to give Earl the needed sales to stay as a salesperson.

Charles Dutton had his own television series called "Roc", and has appeared in such movies as "Aliens 3".

Joy, using her usual charm, does not make a good impression on her lawyer. But eventually sparks begin between Earl and Ruby. After a successful date Ruby starts reading some of the list Earl is working on and realizes she is on the list. When Ruby saw "Robbed a deaf woman" on the list, she lost all respect for Earl and their relationship was over.

When Earl chose to go to jail for Joy, Ruby gained some of that respect back, but it was too late as Earl was heading to jail.
