This is shown on tickets, and heard numerous times during flashback scenes at the airport.
2. In the episode "Further Instructions" we get another look at John Locke's past. He befriends a hitchhiker and takes him to a community where he and others are staying. However the hitcher is actually an undercover police officer. What department does the officer work for?

Answer: Humboldt County Sheriff's Department

The picture of Eddie and his badge that they have on the computer, and print out given to Locke, show Humboldt County Sheriff at the top of the badge.

Answer: North

"Lift up your eyes and look north" is inscribed on the handle. You get an even better look at it when Locke is putting the stick in Eko's grave site.

Answer: Orange

When the plane is first seen, it is hard to tell what color it might be. In later episodes, mainly when Eko has his flashbacks, the color is easily discernible.
