Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the episode "One", how did Detective Goren know that Gia was ready to cooperate with them?

Answer: She began chewing on her fingernails.

Goren had noticed from security footage that Gia chewed on her nails when she was unsure about something. When she began doing this in the interrogation room, he knew she was ready to cooperate.
2. Why did Detective Goren want Father McShane to confess to murder in "The Faithful"?

Answer: He wanted to protect Kevin Donovan's mother.

Goren and Eames discovered that murder victim Kevin Donavon was Father McShane's son. Goren wanted McShane to confess to save Kevin's mother from having it become public knowledge that she had a child out of wedlock with a priest.
3. In "Jones", what did Goren and Eames do to show Denise Talbot that her husband was not faithful to her?

Answer: Detective Eames allowed Talbot to flirt with her.

In a desperate effort to prove that Henry Talbot was not a faithful husband, Detective Eames allowed Talbot to flirt with her in the interrogation room, while Denise Talbot watched from the observation room.
4. How did ADA Carver and the detectives achieve a conviction against Dr Kelmer for the murder of his wife in "The Good Doctor"?

Answer: Carver goaded Kelmer into showing his true colours in front of the jury.

The case went to trial without having recovered the body of Kelmer's wife. Goren goaded Kelmer into insisting that he be allowed to testify. Carver then provoked him into a rage on the stand, showing the jury that he was not the loving husband he claimed to be.
5. In "The Third Horseman", how did Detective Goren respond to Detective Eames' demand that he tell her what he really thinks about abortion?

Answer: He told her that he believed abortion needed to be an option for women.

After first saying that he'd tell her what he thought when he became pregnant, Goren went on to tell Eames that he believed "women need to have a choice, and abortion needs to be one of those choices".
6. How did Detective Goren get Judge Sabatelli to reveal that he had the stolen copies of Judge Blakemore's articles in the episode "Semi-Professional"?

Answer: He tricked Sabatelli into quoting lines from Blakemore's unpublished articles.

Goren and Eames made a big show of arresting Judge Blakemore, lulling Sabatelli into a false sense of security. Goren and Carver then tricked Sabatelli into quoting portions of Blakemore's unpublished articles, letting him think he was helping them to nail Blakemore for plagiarism and, subsequently, murder.
7. In "Seizure", what made Goren suspicious of Cathleen Dwyer?

Answer: She was compulsive about keeping her lab in perfect order.

Cathleen Dwyer was obsessive about putting back in their exact place everything Goren touched in the lab. This made Goren suspicious, because the killer had folded the victim's clothes into a perfectly neat pile. The victim, they discovered on visiting her home, was something of a slob.
8. What was the secret that Maureen Morrissey was forced to admit to Detectives Goren and Eames in "Yesterday"?

Answer: That she was drugged by Jay Lippman.

When pressed by the detectives, Maureen Morrissey was forced to admit that twenty years ago her brother had set her up for a blind date with Jay Lippman, during which she was drugged by Lippman.
9. In "Badge", what did Detective Goren do to disprove that Ron Sherwood murdered his family and then committed suicide?

Answer: He put on Sherwood's bloodied shirt.

Detective Goren put on Sherwood's bloodied shirt to prove that the blood spatter on the shirt was faked and that Sherwood could not have shot his wife.
10. What did Detective Goren ask Erica Windemere over the phone that led to the realisation that she was not who she claimed to be in the episode "Faith"?

Answer: He asked her about her menstruation cycle.

Goren asked Erica about her menstruation cycle, and how her illness had affected it. Erica was unable to answer the question and her guardian, Barb, abused the detectives and hung up on them. This exchange led Goren to realise that Erica Windemere was just a fraud to con sympathetic people into donating expensive equipment, which was then sold for profit.
