Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the episode "Tortured", Jerry Dupree was found guilty of the murder of Kusong Bennett.

Answer: False

Jerry Dupree (played by Charlie Hofheimer) murdered Kusong Bennett when she mistakenly came over to his house, looking to buy some used furniture. Jerry was enamored with Kusong's feet (due to having a foot fetish). Jerry was so enamored, that he cut off one of Kusong's feet for his collection of ladies shoes!

Jerry's mother Mrs. Krug (played by Margaret Colin) was arrested for Kusong's murder, because over the years, she repeatedly hit Jerry in the head, causing severe brain damage. She was charged with second degree murder/depraved indifference.
2. In the episode "Sick", which actress played Nora Hodges?

Answer: Cindy Williams

Cindy Williams, known for her role as Shirley Feeney on the classic ABC-TV series "Laverne & Shirley", played Nora Hodges, a grandmother who, using newspaper clippings of a previous case, falsely accused a suspected child molester/billionaire (played by Will Keenan) of sexual assault against her granddaughter.

This episode is loosely based on the 1993/2005 child sex abuse allegations against Michael Jackson.
3. What is Casey Novak's birth stone?

Answer: Sapphire

In the "SVU" episode "Mean", ADA Casey Novak (Diane Neal) prosecuted Paige Summerbee (Kimberly McConnell), and Andrea Kent (Arielle Kebbel) for their roles in the murder of their friend Emily Sullivan.

Andrea testified that the reason she lured Emily out the night she was murdered was because it was Andrea's birthday.

Casey Novak noticed that Andrea was wearing a class ring. However, Casey pointed out two discrepancies:

1. Andrea's birthday was in the month of January, making her birth stone Garnet.
2. Emily's birthday was in the month of September, making her birth stone Sapphire.

Casey Novak pointed out that when Emily Sullivan's dead body was found, her class ring was missing.

As it turned out, Andrea was wearing Emily's class ring. Andrea said that Paige gave her the ring after she took it off of Emily's corpse.

Andrea said that she felt bad that Emily was murdered. However, Casey asked Andrea that if she felt so bad about it, then why is she wearing a dead girl's ring?

Their friend Brittany O'Malley (played by Kelli Garner) was the one who killed Emily. But, because they turned on her after they all were arrested, Brittany testified against both Paige, and Andrea.

Brittany was charged with murder in the 2nd degree, and first degree kidnapping (both sentences to run concurrently). Paige, and Andrea were charged as accessories to the crime, due to the fact that they did absolutely nothing to help Emily.
4. In the episode "Hothouse", which actress played Jennifer Banks?

Answer: Sarah Hyland

Jennifer Banks was a student at a prestigious academy for gifted students. She murdered her roommate Elsa Lychkoff (played by Juliet Brett) in a jealous rage, due to the fact that Elsa was the top student at their school, and Jennifer so desperately wanted that honor.

Jennifer suffered from sleep deprivation psychosis, due to abusing medicine designed to treat people who were diagnosed with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). Detectives Benson, and Stabler convinced the New Jersey district attorney to offer Jennifer a plea. She is sentenced to seven years in juvenile detention.

Initially, the New Jersey DA was looking to try Jennifer as an adult, which would've resulted in a life sentence for Jennifer.

Jennifer Banks was played by Sarah Hyland, who is known for her role as Haley Dunphy on the ABC-TV series "Modern Family".
5. In the episode "Spousal Privilege", which actress played Paula Bryant?

Answer: Meagan Good

Paula Bryant was the girlfriend of A.J. Martin (played by Chad L. Coleman), a former football player/sportscaster who was caught on camera punching out Paula after a celebrity gala.

Paula Bryant was played by Meagan Good, who is known for her roles in movies such as "Eve's Bayou", "Roll Bounce", "Jumping The Broom" and "SHAZAM".

This episode was loosely based on the domestic violence case against Ray Rice.
6. In the episode "American Tragedy", what was the name of the celebrity chef who shot a young, Black teenager accused of rape?

Answer: Jolene Castille

Jolene Castille (played by Cybill Shepard) shot, and killed a 16-year-old Black boy, who she believed was going to rape her. The detectives investigate the matter, and found that the shooting was racially motivated due to Jolene being a severe racist.

This episode is loosely based on the Paula Deen controversy, and the death of Trayvon Martin.
7. In the episode "Return Of The Prodigal Son", which character returned to "SVU"?

Answer: Elliot Stabler

Actor Christopher Meloni left "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" after season 12. According to the storyline, Stabler abruptly retired from SVU after shooting a young girl who started to wildly shoot people in the SVU squad room.

Elliot Stabler reunited with Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) when his rental car is bombed, killing his wife Kathy Stabler (played by Isabel Gillies).

Olivia finds out from Detective Odafin "Fin" Tutuola (Ice-T) that Elliot has spent the past several years in Rome, Italy as a liaison for the NYPD's task force on organized crime.

This episode is a lead in to the "SVU" spinoff "Law & Order: Organized Crime".
8. In the episode "Home", Marilyn Nesbit's oldest son's name is Adam.

Answer: False

Marilyn Nesbit (played by Diane Venora) convinced her son Adam (Joseph Cross) to shoot, and kill his younger brother Jacob (Jesse Schwartz).

Marilyn was arrested, and charged with criminal facilitation. During a grand jury deposition, Marilyn stated that the police, district attorneys, and DYFS destroy families, and that they don't approve of how she raised her kids.

DYFS stood for Division of Youth and Family Services in the state of New Jersey. Benson and Stabler investigated the matter, and found out that Marilyn lived in New Jersey under her maiden name Chesterfield.

Benson and Stabler also learned that Marilyn had an older son named Daniel (Kevin Thoms) who she started beating after his father was murdered at a convenience store. Marilyn blamed Daniel for her husband's death, because her husband went to the store to buy milk for Daniel. Daniel was placed in foster care after Marilyn disappeared with Adam.

Marilyn lied to Adam when she told him that Daniel died in foster care. After Marilyn disappeared, Daniel stayed in the system, and eventually joined the Navy.
9. In the episode "Crush", which actress played Judge Hilda Marsden?

Answer: Swoosie Kurtz

Kimberly Garnet's (Carley Schroeder) boyfriend Steve Walker (Alexander Nifong) was physically abusing her, but Kimberly wouldn't testify against him, until she was convinced by Kathleen Stabler (Allison Siko), Elliot's daughter that anyone who really loves her would never abuse her the way Steve abused her.

After Kimberly testified against Steve, Judge Hilda Marsden sentenced her to one year at a facility in Ohio for juvenile sex offenders for sexting.

In this case, Kimberly (unintentionally) sent nude photos of herself to a friend of hers named Ethan Morse (Ezra Miller). Because she was a teenager, she was charged with possessing, and distributing child pornography.

The detectives investigated Judge Marsden, and found out that she was falsely sentencing kids to the juvenile facility which is run by her cousin. Marsden gets a commission for every bed she filled.

The detectives, with the help of Ethan Morse (who's a drama student), managed to catch Marsden in a sting operation. Hilda Marsden was arrested for bribery, official misconduct, false imprisonment, and federal charges of wire fraud, and conspiracy to defraud the United States.

Kimberly's charge and sentence were vacated.

This episode is loosely based on the Pennsylvania Kids For Cash scandal.

Swoosie Kurtz is known for her roles in movies such as "Wildcats", "Liar Liar", "Vice Versa", and "Cruel Intentions".
10. In the episode "Snitch", who did Chuckwei Bothame witness committing a murder?

Answer: Dennis King

Chuckwei Bothame witnessed drug dealer Dennis King beat a 16-year-old boy to death for looking at King's girlfriend. Chuckwei's information was posted on a website that listed him as a snitch.

The detectives investigated Chuckwei due to the fact that he was married to a 15-year-old Nigerian murder victim named Nikkiel Kwambe, and the fact that he is a polygamist. As it turned out, Nikkiel was murdered by Chuckwei's other wife, attorney Sara Flint (Tracy Middendorf) due to Sara's jealousy. Sara tried to hinder the investigation by sending a death threat to Chuckwei, so that the detectives would drop the investigation.

Sara is arrested after she attacked Chuckwei's third wife Almani (Muna Otaru), and Chuckwei testified against Dennis King.

Chuckwei Bothame was played by Hakeem Kae-Kazim, who is known for his roles in movies such as "Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End", "X-Men Origins: Wolverine", and "Godzilla vs. Kong".
