Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. A North Korean bomber pilot keeps returning to the 4077th every day at the same time but always misses his target, providing considerable amusement until Frank steps in and spoils the fun.

Answer: '5 O'Clock Charlie'

His very strict routine earns him the nickname '5 O'Clock Charlie', as he always drops a bomb in the area at 5pm.
2. Almost everyone comes down with a case of the flu, and Hawkeye is the only doctor fit to operate - until he starts to get sick too.

Answer: 'Carry On, Hawkeye'

Margeret is one of only very few others who also manages to remain well, and she and Radar have to help him operate after he starts to feel ill.
3. Frank tries to obtain a dishonourable discharge for a homosexual, wounded soldier they are treating at the 4077th, and Hawkeye and Trapper attempt to blackmail him out of it.

Answer: 'George'

The soldier had been beaten up at his unit for being homosexual, but wanted to return to prove that he wasn't afraid. Whether they agreed with this sentiment or not, Hawkeye and Trapper didn't feel it was appropriate to dishonourably discharge him.
4. A Korean family moves into the 4077th, claiming it is their farmland, and a woman comes in with a baby, fingering Radar as the father.

Answer: 'The Chosen People'

The Korean Family is eventually relocated. Radar is at first very indignant about how he is not the father, but then insists that he is the father and is willing to take responsibility. By this time, Hawkeye has already run blood tests to prove this impossible.
5. Hawkeye and Trapper arrange for an enlisted man with a large nose to get cosmetic surgery.

Answer: 'Operation Noselift'

When Hawkeye tries to persuade the man that a big nose isn't all bad, he suggests that it is a sign of sexual potency, then apologises to Father Mulcahy. The good Father replies, "That's okay, I just translate things like that into Latin. It makes them sound noble." This is probably the funniest line in the episode.
6. Hawkeye and Trapper crash a press conference to try and get an incubator for the 4077th.

Answer: 'The Incubator'

According to Henry, yelling "Give me an incubator or give me death!" is not an appropriate way to acquire one.
7. An enlisted man who is being discharged comes to Hawkeye with a problem - he has impregnated a Korean woman, and wants to take his love and child back to the United States with him.

Answer: 'L.I.P. (Local Indigenous Personnel)'

Despite having only two weeks' notice to sort things out, Hawkeye deals with matters quickly. In the process, he rejects the advances of a beautiful nurse who expresses racist sentiments about the matter.
8. A tiny Korean boy who appears to be orphaned wins Trapper's heart, and he and his wife decide to adopt him.

Answer: 'Kim'

Unfortunately for Trapper but fortunately for the child, Kim was not orphaned and his mother comes to collect him near the end.
9. Hawkeye goes a little crazy after being in surgery for three straight days.

Answer: 'Dr. Pierce And Mr. Hyde'

After all that time of staying awake, it becomes a task for everyone to get Hawkeye to stop doing crazy things and go to sleep.
10. After receiving word of an old associate who is married with a wonderful house, Margeret impulsively requests a transfer to another unit.

Answer: 'Hot Lips And Empty Arms'

She believes that had she not done what she did, she would have all that this old friend had and more. While it seems what she regrets most is becoming 'regular army', she seems to believe that making a fresh start in another unit will help her.
11. Supply lines are cut and the 4077th M*A*S*H responds in a somewhat typical fashion for the unit.

Answer: 'Crisis'

Probably the best line from this episode is when the list of supplies is being read out, including the word shuttlecocks, and in horror Hawkeye exclaims, "How are we supposed to fight a war without shuttlecocks?"
12. While on leave in Tokyo, Henry falls for an attractive young American.

Answer: 'Henry In Love'

As it turns out, she has eyes for him and almost everyone else at the 4077th. Henry doesn't find out about most of this as a phone call to his wife sets him straight about what he really wants.
13. Hawkeye starts a long chain of bartering and trading between units - and he only wanted one little thing.

Answer: 'For Want Of A Boot'

'The Incubator' has a lot of things in common with this episode, as Hawkeye attempts to wrangle new items out of other units in both episodes.
14. Hawkeye and Trapper are outraged about the shelling of a South Korean village and the subsequent attempted cover-up.

Answer: 'For The Good Of The Outfit'

I'd like to think this is one of the slightly harder questions, though it probably isn't. Sadly, though I love M*A*S*H and have season 2 on DVD I have yet to actually watch this episode all the way through. It's very elusive.
15. A somewhat tricky one - which of these is the last episode of Season 2 in broadcast order?

Answer: 'A Smattering Of Intelligence'

All of these are the last episodes of various seasons - 'Abyssinia, Henry' is the last episode of season 3, 'The Interview' is the last episode of season 4 and 'Goodbye, Farewell and Amen', as you should know, is the final episode of the series altogether.
