Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. I'm a "Renegade" framed ex-cop on the run from Donald (Dutch) Dixon fighting crime and collecting bounties with his Native American friend Bobby Sixkiller. Who am I?

Answer: Reno Raines

After being on the run from the Lieutenent Donald (Dutch) Dixon who framed him, he saves the life of a bounty hunter Bobby Sixkiller and eventually has the last laugh when Dixon finally gets caught.
2. Which detective lives in Oahu, Hawaii, drives a red Ferrari and has to deal with Higgins?

Answer: Thomas Magnum

Magnum is known for his trademark mustache, Hawaiian shirts, living on the estate and using the car of the unseen Robin Masters, solving crimes and dealing with his boss Higgins. He is played by Tom Selleck.
3. Which sleuth smokes a cigar, wears the same trenchcoat during the entire run of the show and TV movies, and always wants to know "one more thing"?

Answer: Columbo

Seriously I really think it is the same coat through the long run of the show and movies. It is always great seeing the people getting nervous when they realized he knows and they are about to be arrested. Columbo is played by Peter Falk.
4. This sergeant worked for the LAPD with badge #714 and wanted "Just the facts, ma'am"; who is he?

Answer: Joe Friday

This classic cop was always tough with his demeanor and always played the part of the hard nosed detective. He lasted for years on the radio and the small screen. He was played throughout the series "Dragnet" by Jack Webb and in the movie remake by Dan Aykroyd.
5. This plainclothes detective lived with his cockatoo named Fred and drove a 1966 Chevy Impala while saying his phrases like "You can take dat to da bank" and "And dat's the name of dat tune." Which detective?

Answer: "Tony" Baretta

The often disguised cop would go home to his pet cockatoo. This classic cop rode a rotted out Chevy Impala that was as memorable as he was. Baretta was always in some sort of disguise during his investigations. He was portrayed by Robert Blake.
6. The next is a private investigator who did time for a wrongful conviction but got pardoned. He lives in a mobile home (which doubles as his office) and drives a Gold Pontiac Firebird Esprit. The show always starts with an answering machine message. Name that detective.

Answer: Jim Rockford

He wears low budget clothes trying to scrape together a living after spending five years in prison for something he did not do. He is portrayed by James Garner on "The Rockford Files".
7. Who is a tough Texas Ranger and a martial arts expert that has a partner and his best friend is James "Jimmy" Trivette?

Answer: Cordell Walker

Chuck Norris plays Walker in the series and TV movie "Walker, Texas Ranger". There are cults and websites dedicated to Chuck for the work he did on this show; he was even made an honorary Texas Ranger.
8. This tough LAPD homicide detective was played by a former football player and his partner was Sgt. Dee Dee McCall. Who was he?

Answer: Sgt. Rick Hunter

He was a tough guy cop that usually wound up shooting the criminal he was chasing. "Hunter" ran for seven seasons and couple of reunion movies. Hunter was played by former New York Giants and Los Angeles Rams defensive end Fred Dryer.
9. What former detective for the San Francisco P.D. with obsessive compulsive disorder is always troubled by the death of his late wife Trudy?

Answer: Adrian Monk

This strange man is afraid of heights, rain, germs and anything else. He always figures out what nobody else can. It always seems that everyone else is a bumbling fool during the investigations waiting for Monk to solve the case. Tony Shalhoub plays Monk throughout the series "Monk".
10. He was a silly, parody, tough guy that slept and showered with his gun and even talked to it. He was known for spitting out male chauvinistic comments to his partner and memorable quotes included "Trust me I know what I'm doing". What was the name of this inspector?

Answer: Sledge Hammer

If there was no "Dirty Harry" then this tough spoof cop would have never happened. That said it was my favorite show growing up. David Rasche played Sledge and even the crew didn't think they were going to come back for a second season but they did. Check out the season one finale of "Sledge Hammer!" and you'll see what I mean.
