Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Even though 'Neon Genesis Evangelion' is licensed by Gainax, there were many different companies involved in the project. Which one produced stuff for both the TV series and movies?

Answer: Starchild

'Production I.G' and 'MOVIC' participated in the animation production and co-production (respectively) of the two movies: 'Death & Rebirth'/'End of Evangelion'. 'Tatsunoko Productions' was the TV series' animation co-producer and 'Starchild', on the other hand, is a Japanese company licensed by 'King Records' which got involved in the music production of the TV series, the two movies and 'Rebuild of Evangelion'.
2. There are a total of six MAGI supercomputers in the series/movies: Two in Germany (Berlin/Hamburg), one in China (Beijing), one in USA (Boston) and two in Japan (Geo-FRONT/Matsushiro).

Answer: False

In 'End of Evangelion', it is shown that Japan possesses a third MAGI supercomputer, used by SEELE to corrupt NERV and the Geo-FRONT. Finally, after Ritsuko manages to start an auto-destruct sequence, CASPER-3 (MAGI's "woman" side) decides to abort the auto-destruction, in order to protect Gendo (in Episode 21, we see that both Akagi characters (Naoko and Ritsuko) had an affair with Gendo after Yui's and (eventually) Naoko's death).
3. Which Japanese voice actress became the seyuu of Rei Ayanami, Yui Ikari and Pen-Pen in the TV series and also voiced Mana Kirishima from 'Girlfriend of Steel'?

Answer: Megumi Hayashibara

A curious fact is that all three characters were also voiced in English by the same person: Amanda Winn-Lee, so technically, Amanda was the voice actress of Megumi Hayashibara!
4. Which of this characters isn't named after a WW2's Japanese ship?

Answer: Ryoji Kaji

Ikari, Rokubungi, Kaji & Lorenz where named after PARTS of ships (Ikari=Anchor/Rokubungi=Sextant/Kaji=Helm/Lorenz=Keel). Except for Kensuke, Touji & Hikari, all characters where named after Japanese ships, aircrafts and cruisers belonging to the WW2 naval vessels. Aida, Suzuhara & Horaki were extracted from 'Ai To Gensou No Fashizumu', a war novel written by Ryu Murakami.
5. The 'Giant Impact' hypothesis is today's most popular explanation for the formation of the Moon. Which particular event in the series resembles part of this theory?

Answer: First Impact

The original theory says that a small and young planet called "Theia" formed near the Earth's orbit and then crashed with it, tearing a small part of the planet, creating its own satellite: The Moon. "First Impact" refers to the same theory, where "Theia" is in fact the "Black Moon" (the 'egg' from where Lilith came), which in addition to the events showed above, it also crashed with the Earth creating the Geo-FRONT (giant hole where NERV HQ were).
6. This Japanese music composer/producer made his first serious works in the 80s, when he collaborated in some projects such as 'Attacker You' and 'Megazone 23'. Later in the 90s, he joined Gainax and produced the music for many of their series (including Evangelion's TV series and movies). He also took the orchestral arrangement of 'Final Fantasy VI: Grand Finale'. Who is this musical icon?

Answer: Shiro Sagisu

Born the August 29 of 1957 in Setagayu-ku, Tokyo, Japan. Through the years, he produced many 'Songbooks' and collaborated in tons of projects (animes, movies, OVAs, etc.) such as 'Nadia', 'Garzey no Tsubasa', 'Karekano' and 'Abenobashi Maho Shotengai' to name a few.
7. During Asuka's 'Death and Complementation' in 'End of Evangelion', we see that the true reasons for which she kissed Shinji were that she knew that Kaji & Misato were going to be together, and eventually, they would kiss too. So, technically, she wanted to feel "dirty" like Misato... she wanted to feel like an adult.

Answer: True

Eventually... this epic movie reveals that Misato prohibited them to kiss, because they were just kids. Maybe Asuka used Shinji to "practice", in case her opportunity with Kaji came along sometime.
8. Which female performer sings in "Komm Susser Tod" ("Come Sweet Death"), the song from 'End of Evangelion'?

Answer: Arianne

There is almost no information about this singer on the internet. The song was written by Hideaki Anno himself and instruments were arranged by our loyal musician: Mr. Sagisu.
9. SEELE's logo is composed by a giant inverted triangle displaying the "seven eyes of god". Nevertheless, there's another logo which has other significant components such as an apple, a snake and a German phrase inside the triangle.

Answer: True

Indeed, there's another SEELE logo, seen in many websites that is composed of an inverted triangle, the seven eyes of god, a big apple in the center (representing the prohibited fruit taken by Adam and Eve), a snake and a German phrase that reads "Überm Sternenzelt richtet Gott, wie wir gerichtet" ("About The Heavenly Firmament of God, is how we direct").
10. In Episode 24, notice that when Misato approaches Asuka's door, there's a sign hanging in front of her, written in German. What does it say?

Answer: "Entry Forbidden!"

The hole sign says: "Authorized Personnel ONLY. If you enter without my permission, you shall die!" (Japanese) "Entry Forbidden!" (German). Shinji's sign says "Shinji's lovely room" (designed by... guess who).
